The Board of Directors of the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art, lovingly referred to in Trinidad, Colorado as “the Mitch", believe in children and their potential. They hold the power of the future in their hands, and with loving care they will make the world a better place for all of us. We also believe that the past has to be appreciated to create a better future.
The legacy of Arthur Roy Mitchell is reflected in his paintings, as well as the vast historical and cultural collections of artifacts and photography on display in the museum. Our Board of Directors wants our youth to appreciate the Mitch and its collections of the past. This appreciation will help them understand and want to preserve the culture and beauty that surrounds them.
Over the past year, many individuals have affirmed their personal belief in the potential of children and have generously donated to our campaign. These donations have allowed us to provide free memberships to local children, and we were able to bring student groups to the museum for docent tours.
We want to continue this commitment to our children by continuing with memberships, student tours, and art classes for our teenage population. Believe it or not, we only have one paid employee, our wonderful and multi-talented Christina Boyce. She does it all! In order to meet the needs of our youth, community, and the museum we would love to be able to hire more talented and trained personnel. This is our next goal and your donation will help us do that.
Even though we know there are many issues in the world that solicit and need your help, we cannot do this without your support. Any amount you donate to the Mitch will be greatly appreciated and used wisely. Since the museum has a 501(c)(3) designation, anything you give is tax deductible. If you decide to donate, you will notice the warning that any funds will go to me, Judith Fuentes. However, this is not true. All funds collected, less the Go Fund Me fee, will go to the Mitch. If you have any questions about this discrepancy, please contact me or the museum.
