My name is Katrina and I have created this campaign to save the life of my beautiful soul-sister, Anita.
She has just started necessary treatment to save her life (on 1st Oct 2014). BUT WE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE FULL TREATMENT SHE NEEDS.
The first stage of this treatment is for 3 months 24/7 with the first month costing AU$40,000 alone. We are unfortunately and fearfully $10,000 SHORT TO COMPLETE THIS FIRST MONTH PAYMENT and Month #2 (Nov) is going to cost over an additional $25,000.
We also are unaware of what the next stage of treatment will entail after this intitial treatment (because due to the nature of this disease, there will be another stage) and we don't know what that will cost.
We have no other choice but to start this treatment and hope for a miracle to complete it, because Anita can't afford NOT to have this treatment. We will lose her without it.
After many misdiagnosis, US doctors have finally proven that Anita is extremely sick with advanced Lyme's disease.
Wracked with daily seizures, constant INTENSE pain, brain shut-downs, major digestive issues, contortions and more unpleasantries and cannot take perscription medical, antibiotics or painkillers because her body reacts negatively to them. Some have almost killed her in the past.
This being the case for Anita's condition means she also gets NO support and appropriate natural treatment in Australia because the Authorities who has the power to help refuse to acknowledge that Lyme's Disease exists on its shores. Instead they state it's "all in her head" and give her a referral to a Mental Health practitioner. (this has happened on too many occasions because Anita spent a short time in a psych ward as a teenager due to being repeatedly molested and raped as a child with no family member or doctor believing her. Therefore now, it doesn't matter what she asks for help about, she is simply pushed away as being a hypochondriac to get attention. This was another challenge that Anita has overcome, again, on her own.)
But because the medical board and doctors choose to put their heads in the sand about this disease (and the presenting symptoms in front of their eyes), be aware, this is a threat to us all.
The bacteria that carries the Lyme disease is very adaptive and takes on the symptoms of many other conditions (MS, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease (ALS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Alzheimer’s Disease etc.) and is misdiagnosed here in Australia constantly. This means you and your loved ones are also at risk if these doctors keep refusing to consider it. The number of sufferers of Lyme's disease are growing in Australia, and this medical negligence has most certainly been the case for Anita time and time again and has and is costing her her life.
Instead of running around with her 14 year old son, Jyden, having fun like they should be, her young son has instead had to become her part-time carer over the years and is gravely disgusted at how badly the medical system and doctors have treated his mum. He says "they just ignore her and tell her that's she's a hypochondriac and is lying about everything. BUT SHE'S NOT!! THIS IS REAL!! and they won't listen. They're all sheep. I can't stand them. They make me so angry and upset. We need answers and they just won't help."
BUT NOW THERE IS HOPE! Specific treatment to suit Anita's weakened condition exists in America/Hawaii where Lyme's IS accepted and supported. As mentioned, this treatment requires a minimum of 3 months and is very expensive. BUT IT IS HER SOLUTION to getting her life back!
The reality is -as described by Lyme's specialists- if Anita does not have this treatment ASAP, she will DIE.
This thought breaks my heart and her own, as she would be leaving behind her beautiful son Jyden to create alone the stories they want to create together, and devastate her mother.

Her mother Mary has already spent well over $170,000 on trying to get accurate answers from every kind of doctor you can think of - mainstream and alternative - for the past 28 years and now has no more money left.
