We need help with initial setup cost, such as registration, Application for tax Exempt status, and other legal cost.  Minds On Africa Inc. will be devoted to strengthening the African Community by connecting local citizens, ideas, and resources to help support African development efforts.

We are currently working on our website (www.mindsonafrica.org) See below for a summary of the organization and its programs.

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

Minds On Africa Inc. is an organization that seeks to bridge the gap between empowering resources and the African community by helping people care for one another through capacity building, advocacy, youth empowerment, partnership, technological innovation, community participation, scholarship, social and economic entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Minds On Africa wil focus and apply resources in targeted local communities to strengthen their ability to help and lead themselves, and at the same time, facilitating the opportunity for scholars, volunteers and social entrepreneurs to implement innovative ideas that will be sustainable and be of impact to the targeted community.

We seek to empower community youths as well as Minds On Africa participants by making them the leaders of their initiatives for a better African community. Minds On Africa will engage, challenge and empower local youths to play an active role in the development of their respective community. Our hope is that the anticipated success of our program will spark a leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as motivate innovation within the local communities. This will be accomplished by selected scholars, youths and volunteers identifying and implementing new business opportunities, and innovative ideas within the local community.

Minds On Africa have designed the Ubora concept as a means of achieving this vision. The term Ubora means Excellence. It is derived from the Bantu language of the regions of Central Africa, East Africa, and Southern Africa. It is a term commonly used by the Swahili people.

The application of this term to Minds On Africa programs is seen as a means of advancing excellence through partnership for the purpose of enabling Entrepreneurship, Mentorship, Scholarship and Leadership in African communities. Through the Ubora concept, we have developed three frameworks: Ubora Initiative, Ubora summer institute, and Ubora Social Business Plan Competition.

Ubora Initiative:
The UBORA INITIATIVE facilitates Entrepreneurship, Mentorship and Partnership by offering undergraduate academic scholarships to successful applicants each year.

The goal of this program is to develop a Minds On Africa (MOA) scholarship program for Sub-Saharan Africa Region that will empower African youth by increasing opportunities for them to take leadership of their situations while improving their quality of life. This will be crucial to the success of our mission. By utilizing this initiative, Minds On Africa can help foster the elements of Global Human Development by facilitating the need for social cohesion through civic engagement, equality through entrepreneurship, sustainability through job creation, professional development through mentorship, as well as academic success through scholarship.

 About the Scholarship
Scholarship will cover cost of attendance at a participating University at one of our working countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Ubora Scholars are free to choose any program offering/field of study.

Throughout their study, Ubora Scholars works with their University’s academic staffs and industry professionals to develop a blueprint initiative (Program plan/business plan) that will be evaluated based on sustainability, relevance to field of study, and benefiting their local community.

At the end, students will be connected with resources such as funding & financing, one-on-one mentoring, networking, etc; for the purpose of facilitating the successful implementation of their initiative.

Ubora Summer Institute:

The UBORA SUMMER INSTITUTE will be a 2 to 3 weeks summer residential fellowship program that brings together a diverse group of youth from several Sub-Saharan African community for the purpose of stimulating intellectual curiosity, inquiry and dialogue in a variety of intensive and holistic subjects such as African economic, social, and political environment necessary for development.

Through training workshops, lectures, interactive seminars; fellows will be able to work with each other and with a variety of professionals in the governmental and non-governmental, academic, and Health institutions, NGOs, and Corporate sectors.

They will work in the areas of environment, health, food security, education, development, leadership, entrepreneurship, gender equity, conflict resolution and other human care issues facing their local communities.

Fellows in the UBORA SUMMER INSTITUTE are going to be paired in working groups; and the seminars and workshop will be facilitated by professional facilitators/instructors from top leading institutions around the continent and the world at large.

Ubora Social Business Plan Competition:

Social Entrepreneurship as a concept often driven by Minds On Africa is connected to various interrelated trends and movements, such as entrepreneurship, leadership, mentorship, advocacy, and solidarity economy. These trends are some of the most important, yet most cost-effective, stimulus for a society’s social environment, economic growth and community development; and should no longer be met with skeptical glances.

The UBORA BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION transforms ideas into social enterprises that offers the efficiency of a private sector service provider but with a guarantee that the public rather than private interest is served.

The outcome of the UBORA BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION is to empower local youth by providing appropriate resources to turn their ideas into a document that is sellable, convincing, and attractive for investors.
