We are writing to share some exciting news. The Miller Family is growing!
One thing we love about each other is our senses of adventure. We are both constantly on the look-out for the next big exciting escapade. When we were dating, we dreamed of getting married and sharing a home. Casey would draft up tall skinny homes and short fat homes and we would talk about having our friends over to picnic in the backyard or in our rooftop garden.
Once we got married, we dreamed of parenting children. We both love to play and create and we feel that we were made to be parents.
In August of 2013 Natalie was diagnosed with a condition called endometriosis. This is a debilitatingly painful and incurable condition and in about 40% of cases it results in infertility. We do not know if it has affected Natalie this way, but this diagnosis has served as a catalyst in our decision to adopt a child into our family. We are very excited at the prospect of growing our family in this way and we would love your prayers as we go through the process.
As you may know, one thing that stops many families from adopting is the cost. Adoption can cost $35,000 or more. While we have been planning for this for some time, it is still a huge financial burden when due all at once. Our dream is still reachable. We long to better understand God's love for us by experiencing unconditional love for our children. We long to nurture and develop them into unique individuals. We can't wait to get to know their personalities, to see their beautiful faces and to kiss their sweet cheeks.
The money spent in an adoption is put to good use. The agency we are working with will counsel the expectant parents through their pregnancy, preparing them for the difficult and selfless decision they have made. They stick with the birth parents after the baby has been adopted and counsel them through their grief. They encourage adoptive parents to have an open and loving relationship with their child's birth parents. The agency, the birth parents and the adoptive parents all must make their decisions based on the child's best interest even if they are painful and difficult and we are excited to bring not only a child, but his or her heritage and relatives and birth parents into our family.
We've been researching different fundraising opportunities and discovered one that will allow your donation to go extra far. We have partnered with two foundations: The Kwagala Project, which rescues women and girls in Uganda from Human Trafficking, and The Apparent Project, which empowers impoverished families in Haiti.
