Making Mikey Mobile

Our 9 year old son Michael (Mikey) Hennes II, was born with Cerebral Palsy. As a result, he's unable to walk. We recently purchased a newer minivan with the sole purpose of having it converted to be handicap accessible for Mikey. Our original plan was to purchase a new van that was already converted. Unfortunately, those cost around $40,000. Neither myself or my wife have ever owned any credit cards, houses, etc. As a result we both have poor credit scores. So this was out of the question. During our search, we were presented with the idea to buy a newer van and then have the conversion done after. Now the issue is that after being approved for the auto loan, we can't get approved for the conversion. It's a helpless feeling not being able to provide your child with something they absolutely need. Not only do we have to carry and lift Mikey into a car seat that he barely fits into, we also have to take his wheelchair apart and or lift it into the van as well. Then do it all over when we take him out of the van. Imagine running errands and having to repeat this process several times per day? Due to this, Mikey has missed most of the school year, and he barely gets to leave our home unless it's an absolute emergency. These conversions cost anywhere from $10,000 to over $20,000. Our son really needs this for a better quality of life. Please, find it in your heart to help our family? Even if you can't help monetarily, sharing this campaign is also a HUGE help.
