Mickey's Leukemia Medical Fund

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
Mickey was recently diagnosed with Acute Leukemia on September 15, 2016. He was experiencing a few odd symptoms the month prior to his diagnosis but never in our wildest dreams did we ever think we would be getting the phone call explaining he has a life threatening disease. Shock set in over us as we scrambled to Stanford Emergency. Mickey was hospitalized on an emergency basis based on the type of Leukemia he has. The risk of bleeding out is so high in the first month he had to be hospitalized for 3 weeks. Chemotherapy started immediately and the effects of the medication took its toll on Mickey's body rather quickly.

He is currently undergoing outpatient chemotherapy treatmeants 5 days a week for the next 32 weeks. The intense process will ensure not only remission but a cure to his type of cancer. It is very hard to see such a strong and independent man in so much pain. Mickey is such a jokster that not seeing that side of him for weeks at a time let me know that this would be a difficult path to recovery. While the journey may be long our family has our faith to get us through such a trying time.

Our family is growing. We are due with our first and only baby boy November 19, 2016. We have 4 girls ages 17 to 2 years old. The new addition will make us parents of 5 children. We feel so excited and blessed so you can imagine Mickey's desire to get healthy as soon as possible.

Unfortunely, we do not qualify for much disablility through the state and considering our growing family and the time he will be out of work, topped with the extremely expensive medications, we are left in a financial  bind. We are looking for love and support from our friends and family in our time of need. Life never prepares you for this type of news, especially at this stage in life at 42 and with such a young family . We are working through the intial shock and focusing on getting Mickey the rest he needs to make a full recovery.

All the funds raised will be used for Mickey's hosptialization, chemotherapy treatmeants, and outpatient services. Any little bit helps us through this time because we don't have great health coverage and some treatments are extremly expenisve and not covered through our insurance. We are so thankful for all the big hearts out there that love Mickey and have a strong desire to see him get better. We are so thankful for all the people in our lives that are contributing to his recovery.
