Support Viengvilay and Family`

Donation protected
My name is Tina Meetran and I have created this GoFundMe page for my mother, Viengvilay Sihavong (In the picture she is the one in the middle, I am the one on the right, and my younger sister Sandra is on the left). We are currently in the process of applying for her green-card and eventually for her citizenship status, after over 20 long years of her being in the US.  This process will be costing her $10,000.  $10,000 that our family does not have. This is her story:

My mother, Viengvilay has been in the US for over 20 years. These past 5 years have been the most diffcult. In 2010 her husband/our father was deported to Laos, leaving my mother to raise 2 daughters on her own. Working a minimum wage, hourly pay job, this was far from easy. She had to pay rent, phone bills, electricity and heat bills, provide food and basic necessitices for three people. Not only did she provide for us, she also sent  money to my dad in Laos. Thus, money was always a concern and we (her children) helped out as much as teenage girls could. With my father in Laos, we miss him every day and as a family we have to support each other despite the distance. We are hoping to bring him back to the States soon, but in the meantime we pushed through as we always do, and then things got even more difficult.

In the summer of 2014, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was told that it was an aggressive tumor and actions had to be taken right away, these actions being chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. With all of this ahead, she had to take off work and go on  Temporary Disability Insurance Benefits, receiving about $250 a week. So, money became an even bigger concern. Currently, my mother has been through chemo and surgery (which went very smoothly) and is waiting for radiaiton.

My mom has been through many battles. She  is THE strongest woman I know. Throughout all the financial troubles and health issues, my mom continues to push through. With her husband thousands of miles away, it is not easy, and I can't even imagine how it feels . Yet, she does everything she can to continue to support her family. Even through the barriers of her breast cancer, she still pushes through and does everything in order to make her family happy. I personally can't thank her enough for all that she has done.

Now, my mother must go through the US legal system to gin her citizenship and bring her husband/our father back to the US. Lawyers are not cheap.  Her case alone will cost her close to $10,000. Again, $10,000 that we are scrapping up to pay towards every month. With all that she already pays, this just adds on to the financial burden. We also hope to start the process of getting my father back to the United States, and our family can be reuntied again.

We are asking friends, family and you all to help support my mom and my family through one of many financial burdens that we've had to face over the years. This is normally not something we do. We are not a family that asks for money even from other family members. However, after all that she's been through, I would like to help relieve some of her stressful burdens.

Thank you for clicking our page and reading my mother's story. We deeply appreciate any and all contributions.
