The Mendota Elementary Community School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is asking you to support our “Play Today” Playground Campaign for much needed updates and improvements to our playground. With your support, we can purchase equipment to supplement the core structure recently installed by the Madison Metropolitan School District.
Mendota Elementary is located on Madison, Wisconsin's northside at 4002 School Rd. It represents the diversity within the northside community. It is comprised of talented teachers and staff who partner with families to enrich educational opportunities for 340 scholars.
Why is a playground important?
· Carlettra Stanford, Mendota principal: “Research indicates that play is important to the development of children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, as well as creativity and imagination. New playground equipment would provide scholars the opportunity to have fun with friends, while developing these lifelong skills,”
· Sonia Spencer, Mendota parent liaison: “Embracing our school community ties in with our scholars embracing our outdoor play environment. New playground equipment will allow scholars to engage with each other in different grade levels and will provide a safe environment to play outside of the classroom”.
· Kerri Lintl, Mendota 1st grade teacher: “Our playground provides an opportunity to grow as social beings and to have fun doing it.”
For more than a year, the Mendota PTO has focused on fundraising for playground equipment through a variety of successful events. Our devoted efforts have yielded $10,000 which is a significant achievement and our pledge to the fundraising campaign. Now with your help, the PTO can grow that amount with your matching funds and further improve the playground for our scholars for years to come.
Campaign Goal = $30,000
PTO Pledge = $10,000 (33% of goal!)
Remaining Goal: $20,000
