Hi my name is Deetreena Perteet I am the parent Of Ondelee Perteet, on September 5th 2009 Ondelee became a victim of gun violence he was paralyzed from the neck down. His injuries were c4c5 asia a complete no motor skills the bullet broke 2 bones in his neck and servered his spinal cord rendering him a quadriplegic doctors said Ondelee would never move his arms or legs again he was actually in a superman wheelchair . Doctors told me if I wanted to have a life it would be best to put him in a home it was going to be very difficult to care for him I put on my motherly pants and said I'm taking him home! I have faith I will do this and we will be ok and against all odds we are great! Ondelee has far exceeded the diagnosis we were given , his faith and determination is amazing we took a negative and turned it into a positive by speaking out against gun violence rarely receiving a stipend for his speaking, that's part of the way we give back in addition we have donated a lot of his medical equipment that he has out grown like his Hoya lift , we've donated clothes and shoes and we will be donating wheelchairs to the kids equipment network real soon let me go back to the night of Ondelees shooting he was being a peace maker not saying he was perfect by no means but he wasn't a gangbanger,he didn't deal in drugs or hang on the street corners he was a typical kid please visit our website at www.ondeleeperteet.com you may also Google Ondelee . Ondelee has beaten all the odds against him every goal he sets for himself he meets he got his drivers license "no assisted devices!' He graduated from high school and is now in his second semester of college. Ondelee and my self have received the partners of the struggle award and the blue heart award from father pfleger at at Sabina comm church and has the ambassador of peace award Fron knew life new solutions he has the army strong award from the Steve Harvey mentoring program Ondelee has made a profound affect on a lot of our youths to make better choices my moto is if we reach one which we've far exceeded I say we because I speak with him we are the dynamic dual ! I have pretty much given you our or his background . I'm a single parent of 4 Ondelee being my only son and I have 3 daughters I am Ondelees primary care giver no matter how great he's doing he still requires a lot of help with the money I make from being his care giver it pays our rent,light ,gas,out of pocket college expenses,out of pocket medical insurance ECT .... The reason for our fund raiser is to fix a van that was donated to us back in 2012 by d'arcy car dealership after a previous donated van was stolen. On February 3rd during the big snow storm the van got stuck in the ice so in trying to get it unstuck I might have blown the transmission or broken the axels or the drive shaft the windows don't roll down because the motors in the windows are going the van won't go forward or backwards besides ondelees power chair he relies on that van to get him to doctors appointments,church, speaking engagements ect... We often attend the abilities expo and there we see wheelchair accessible vehicles that we just dream of having because they come equipment with everything he needs a ramp the seats pull out where his wheelchair can be a seat if he drives I think they're made by Braun I told him we can always dream but right now we're trying to get the van repaired but no one will give us a quote without looking at it and they can't look with out money so we're in between a rock and a hard place Ondelee needs a vehicle to meet his disability needs and a safe vehicle so please we are begging if you can't donate please keep sharing to everyone you know I'm sure we'll get some help along the way Ondelee has been an inspiration to all and once again he needs your help thank you and God bless you all DONATIONS MY ALSO BE MAILED TO : THE DETERMINATION FUND P.O.
