The Matt Martinez Fund

My husband Matt was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy in 2003.  He had been working fulltime while his doctor followed him.  He had chemo to shock his kidneys and was on steroids for a while.   His kidneys failed in December  2013. He is currently getting dialysis 3 days a week for 4 hours at a time. He has been through a lot on his life.  When he was born, he had a cleft lip and pallet.  He has undergone at least 18 surgeries throughout his young life. Back then surgery wasn't as quick as it is now.  So he has struggled to keep a positive attitude.  Now being  unable to work due to the pain he endures after dialysis is very difficult for him.   He is week and tired all the time.  Doing anything just wears him down. Working fulltime, he was our only source of income because I stayed home with our 3 children, our last being born deaf.  Unfortunately our bills were made before Matt went on disability, but it isn't anywhere near what his fulltime income was.  We are just trying to make it, which I know is difficult for anyone these days.  We are struggling just to pay our bills. We are no where near being able to pay for gas or food. It is hard with Matt being on a special diet and 3 kids. We get 150.00 a month in food stamps but again Matt is on a special diet and has to have a lot of home cooked meals.  We don't like asking for money but don't know what else to do.  The kids are in need of haircuts.  They have a lot of appointments at Childrens because they all see specialists there for different reasons.  Please if you can find it in your heart to help we would really be grateful.
