                                  Literally a bad break

After selling off most of their goods, the Masek family of four leased a car, left California and moved to Pittsburgh as  Scott accepted a position as general manager of 35 fast food franchises. Within weeks of the move the Company terminated the position. The job loss was quite a blow, savings were quickly depleted, unemployment kicked in.

Bankruptcy ensued attempting to preserve the small cash flow the family had. Both the car and the leased furniture were taken away. The family was able to eke by as Scott pursued a suitable new job opportunity often selling plasma as a means to get by.

Scott accepted a position as General Manager of another fast food franchise store in February 2015. The really bad break came on March 1 after working just 6 days on his new job; Scott tragically slipped on the ice and broke his leg in six places preventing him providing for his family.   He will be unable to do his GM job - a standing up job - for 6 to 9 months!  His wife and eldest son will search for jobs to help the family through this period and short and long term disability payments will provide some income once they are determined and begin.  But, in the meantime, this time of financial uncertainty needs to be bridged.

What we are asking – the Masek family needs a bridge of income of $1,800 to cover the month of March.  By that time we hope other sources of income will have kicked in. We know it’s far cheaper to keep a family from becoming homeless than to bring them back from homelessness.

Who are we? We are a few concerned friends who have come to know and love the Masek family through their church. We care about them. We think their situation beckons for a response and calls us to action, not only in helping them, but also in getting the word out so that others may be able to share in the blessing of helping them as well.  Many hands make light the work.
