Hello All! My name is Jake Casey, and I'm a professional ballet dancer with the Cincinnati Ballet . During my professional career I have danced all over America and abroad. This has afforded me many amazing opportunites to dance in world class theatres, perfoming repetoire by the leader's of the art form. Howevever, this Campaign is for something a little bit different, but just as passion filled.
I have always loved creating movement, and especially translating that movement into another person's vocabulary. In other words, I love Choreographing! The way it helps me tell the audience, piece by piece, a little bit more about myself as an artist, human, and creator.
So, when the REVERBdance Festival in NYC wanted my work to be a part of their Festival I was naturally, extrememly elated! For a little bit more background about the Festival, "The REVERBdance Festival is the critically acclaimed national and international contemporary dance festival that awards choreographers and dancers with funding, commissions, workshops, marketing and an audience reaching thousands of people. The REVERBdance Festival curates original programming of the highest quality from artists across the globe and that takes place annually in New York City! This highly curated dance festival has been produced annually in New York since 2005 at SUNY Purchase College, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center and most recently The Baruch Performing Arts Center."
They have asked me to come to NYC and present my work RECURSUS which takes place November 6,7,8. This piece was a New Work that I choregraphed on the Cincinnati Ballet's Second Company in Spring of 2015. And, very graciously with the support of my home company(Cincinnati), I will be using some of my immeasurably talented coworkers in this very exciting opportunity. In collabaoration, letting us Tour to NYC to Premiere my piece at the Festival! How exciting this is for everyone involved!
However, touring a group of 8 dancers across the Country is a serious undertaking.. Therefore I take it to you! I am asking for $10,000 for this Project, which is a a seriously huge sum of money. But, when broken down, with flights, accommodations, production costs, costumes, etc.. it is easier to see how that number is so high.
I am here asking you to please help me out in any way shape or form. Whether it be donating $1, a large sum of money, or a share of this Project, I am extremely grateful. At the end of the day, all I want to do is help create beautiful art, be surrounded by beatiful art, and help connect artists, dancers, creators, and human beings along the way.
