A van for a family with a disabled child


 On December 14, 2014 my precious family of five children and I got into a serious accident. Thankfully, my beautiful family and I were neither seriously injured nor hurt. However, we have only one vehicle and this tragic event left us carless. Now my family and I are without a vehicle and this impacted our disabled son the most. We have a disabled child. His name is Vitaliy. As of today, he is 16 years old. Because my family no longer has a vehicle, I was forced to cancel all of Vitlaliy’s appointments to his doctor. We live in Minnesota, by the border of Canada. My child’s doctor is located in a Minneapolis children’s hospital. When I had my vehicle, it would take me 6 hours to drive him to his appointments. My son suffers from developmental delay, which make him unable to talk. Vitaliy is 16, but he acts like he is 6. My wife Tanya and I do our best to support our family of five children.
I, Tanya, work from home and I average around 14 hours a week, I am paid $14 an hour. My husband stays at home with our disabled son and our other young children. We have never asked for financial help before, but because of this vehicle accident, my family has been devastated. We live in a rural area and now it is even hard for us to go to the store for groceries. I have asked relatives and friends for help, but they themselves are struggling financially.
