My Name is Billy F Mullin. At the age of 16 I contracted a rare terminal form of Valley Fever known as Meningital Coccidioidomycosis, which is basically Viral trapped in the valleyfever fungus that is stuck in my spine. This illness caused me to have a stroke that paralyzed my entire left side and at the time I was given a 2 year life expectancy.
That was 10 years ago during my senior year of Highschool. By the grace of God I have made it to see 27. Defying all odds however has not been an easy journey. Since being diagnosed in August 2004 I have had to teach myself to walk 3 times, spent countless days in the Hospital or in bed unable to move, recieved at least a dozen spinal taps, and required brain surgery 6 seperate occassions (with more expected in the future).
Dealing with this disease has made finishing college nearly impossible for me, yet i was able to complete a good portion of Film school before i had to medically withdrawl from the program.
My Dream is to be a Film Maker. This Documentary about my life experience and dedication to a career of Film Making will be my first. This Film will also explore another art form i have a deep affection for, tattooing.
My Plan is to Document the process of completely transforming my appearence, while my story is told through interviews with various important people in my life. I would like to get a number of large pieces covering both my arms, some portions of my neck, and about 70% of my torso. All to be done in a matter of weeks and recorded. The tattoos will all be either movie themed or relate directly to a personal experience. All of the body art in the film will be explained and recorded being applied.
I expect this to be a very painful process, and with my sensitive medical condition a fairly risky one. However, I believe i have a unique opportunity to follow my dreams and share my story world. Any contribution made will be greatly appreciated even if they are just words of support.
