Hello, My name is Tiffeny. The sweet little boy you see in the pictures is my nephew. His name is Easton. He was born with a heart condition called Hypo-Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. ( Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a rare congenital heart defect in which the left ventricle of the heart is severely underdeveloped) He will have to have a series of 3 surgery's. These procedures are not fixing the problem, each one just buys him a little more time.
Easont's story:
My brother Jake and his wife Emily found out when she was 34 weeks along that Easton had something wrong with his heart. The doctors told them that there was a big chance that he might not make it once he was born, but our little Easton is a strong little fighter!Emily gave birth to Easton at 39 weeks. He weighed 7 lbs 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. Beautiful baby boy!
3 days after Easton was born, he had his 1st heart surgery
The Cardiologist suspected he could make it to 6 months old before he would have to have his 2nd surgery.
The 1st series surgery was a success! Easton had to stay in the hospital for 20 days after his 1st surgery , once he was home he had to be on oxygen and have a feeding tube. They feed him every 3 hours , and he can only have 3 ounces at a time. What he could not eat orally, they had to pump through his feeding tube. He is on a special formula diet called Elacare. Eastons heart is now running on one pump, so it works a lot harder and is always running faster than a normal heart would.
Easton will be 4 months old on the 10th of February. he now weighs 14lbs. They had to do a Cath test because his stats were low, he had to have surgery so they could insert a stent inside his shunt. This way he will be able to keep his stats normal before his 2nd series surgery.
Easton will have his 2nd series surgery in a few weeks. If his 2nd series surgery goes well, he shouldn't have to have another surgery until he is 2-4 years old. After the 3rd surgery his life depends on his heart condition. If his heart weakens they will have to start looking for a heart transplant.
The reason I am setting up this gofundme account is to help them with all the medical bills from the 1rst series surgery, second surgery, and they 2nd series surgery to come. Also, it is a new year , they now have to pay deductibles and co pays on top of surgery's bills, check ups etc. I would love for them to have one less thing to stress about, so that they can enjoy their time together.
