Hello from the great state of Arizona!
I wish to share with you my heart ... my vision ... my dream. If you can offer me the gift of your time for a few moments, I promise this is a need so great, that it has brought me to tears on many occassions, and still does each day as I speak with those whom this dream affects and hear their stories of why this project means so much to them as the recipent of the benefits that it offers ... The ones who need it so badly, but at the moment have no way to be able to benefit from it ... The ones that are silently hurting and no one knows... The ones crying alone, and no one sees... The ones who whisper in the night "Where are you, God?" and no one is there to hear ... (other than God) ... and He HAS heard those cries, and seen those tears and wants to bring hope and healing to them... and here is how ...
La Siesta, which means "The Rest".
The Rest is a place for those in ministry to go for refreshing, renewing, recharging, refocusing, and rekindling the passion within their destiny and life's calling. A place of "Rest".
Statistics show that we lose more pastors daily in this great country of ours, than we lose missionaries in foreign and dangerous lands ... How can this be? ...
BURNOUT! ... Pressures, weariness, lack of support, criticism, family problems arising because of all this, self doubt, lack of accountability, just to name a few, but it all boils down to too much, and too little, for too long.
Pastors are thought to be above the frey. They are to be perfect, strong, happy always, without fears, without worries ... afterall, it is about faith, isn't it? Isn't that what they teach? Do we ever stop to think that they are human, and they too are learning, and many times their sermons are taken from what God is sharing with them in their own lives ... But, we do not allow them to be real. We do not want that... we want them to be real alright ... real perfect.... Sadly this is impossible, though I am sure they would love it too ...
They are the first ones there when they get the call in the middle of the night that the baby is on the way, or the ambulance just took mom to the hospital, or mom and dad are having problems and need to talk, or the family needs a visit because someone just passed in the night, or a parents teenager just ran away and they need help ... This is when Pastors rise up, put on their smile and warm heart and off they go to help us ... never asking for anything in return, never dodging the request because of their own problems ... No, they go running to help. They are so much more than a speaker for an hour on Sunday morning, they are 24/7 for us, because of their love for God and their love for us ...
Many are called ... we are all called to carry the gospel to a lost and dying world, but few are chosen ... because most of us do not have the stamina to take it ... but for those who are chosen, for those who are on the frontlines for us, for those who are carrying the torch of the gospel, they need US... Yet they are many times walking around, hurting and dying on the inside, and no one knows.... until it is too late. They need love, support and an army gathered around them to hold up their arms when they are weary and someone to say "it is time to rest".
La Siesta will be that place to rest.
Those in ministry will be given a 1-2 week all expense paid vacation to this getaway retreat in Arizona's sun. Their food and shelter will be provided for the entire stay and all they will need to do is pack their clothes and a toothbrush ... and we will have extra toothbrushes on hand in case they forget! (and breath mints ... :) )
They will enjoy the scenery, the quiet, the fellowship of others in ministry when they wish to mingle, or time alone in their cabin when they need solitude. A counselor will be available for those who may need to process some things, friendly staff will be there to help in any way they are needed and transportation will be included both ways when needed, as funds are available for it.
The property features several cabins that offer privacy and quality furnishings. There is a pool, spa, and beautiful grounds to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature surrounding you, along with many other on site and local amenities and entertainment to enjoy. There will be staff on site 24/7 if needed.
We will break bread together, both in the form of home cooked meals and communion. We will BBQ at the BBQ pit, and we will have instruments on hand for a good, old fashioned, praise time ... We will love, we will laugh, we will cry, we will pray, we will sing - and they will rest.
With this property and your help, we will be able to help hundreds, possibly over a thousand each year. We are looking for donors to help us launch this project, so we are able to purchase the property for it. We will then be funded by sponsors who help us carry the program each year, working on funding one year in advance, so we are never caught in a storm.
Once the property is purchased, we will then only need to fund the ongoing expenses to operate the facilities, feed our guests and the funds needed for transportation vouchers.
Would you find it in your heart to help? If you think of all the times your pastor has helped you in some small orlarge way .. and to think that you now have an opportunity to help when they are the one in need, yet would never ask ... would this not be a way to say thank you in a big way?
Every donation counts. Be it $10.00 or a million ... we need both. But it starts with each of us doing our part. If you can help, by giving and then sharing this GoFund Account with your friends and family and encourage them to help too, we could go over the top in a blink... but it takes acting while you are thinking of it ... when we wait we get distracted and we forget (trust me, I know) ... so I am asking you to think on this ... pray on it and ask God what you can do to help and then make your donation to it today.

If I could share with you the multiple stories from pastors, as I have approached them with this, to get their feedback on it ... the many who have shared how they are hurting at this very moment, or they know of pastor friends of theirs who are ... this is not something that is needed tomorrow, this was needed yesterday.

$25 will cover their room expenses for a night. $50 will cover their gas for the trip. $150 will cover their car rental, and $3-500 will cover their RT airfare. But for now, we have a property to purchase. The rest of the funds are for the first year of expenses.... By each of us all doing what we can, we can make it work and make this be a reality for the weary hearts now.

PS: for those who would say "But, Pastors are rich, they do not need a free vacation!" ... Let me assure you, the ones in mega churches may well be ... but there are many making less than we are and I know some who live on the church grounds and do not take a salary because the congregation's pledges do not afford them the luxury. They do it because they love .. they do it because they care, they do it because they are called and chosen. Those who can afford to get away when they wish, and go where they like will not need this, and will not use it ... This is for those who otherwise would not get the rest they need... the ones who really need that rest because their load is so great.
