Peace and Community building are deep passions for me. I started the Akron Peace Project in 2010 as an attempt to do something positive in our community.
So I have decided to create a fund that will help Akron area nonprofits create programs to educate and inspire nonviolence in the Akron area. This fund will be set up to help people for many years down the line.
This fund is called the Love Initiative Fund, as we need to initiate more true Love and compassion in our community. This fund will help bring imperative nonviolence tools to Akron.
The funds from my latest CD, Provenance, which is a collaborative songwriting effort with 17 songwriters in 5 states, are also going into this fund.
This campaign will help create the initial funds so that the fund can be officially created and begin helping people.
Nonviolence is a big idea, reaching into nearly all aspects of life, so this fund will be looking to help many types of programs including nonviolent communication, conflict resolution, food and cooking programs, meditation, community-building skills, random acts of kindness, etc. We hope to engage the community by seeing these programs enacted in schools, community centers, nonprofits, businesses, and other public arenas. One of the great consequences of such a fund is that it encourages not only existing programs to continue and expand, but it inspires other programs to begin.
