LOGAN'S TOP SURGERY

Everyone, my name is Logan! I'm 28 living in the Pacific North West. This fund raiser is to help me take the next step in my journey towards becoming my true self. It took me a long time to admit to myself what I've known since a very young age...that I am not comfortable as a girl. I am genderqueer, not male or female, but both. From a very young age I gravitated away from the feminity that those around me encouraged. I dressed in boys clothes, played with "boy" toys, and cut my hair short, in an attempt to match the image/knowledge of myself that I had in my brain. I have always been a "tomboy". I came out as a lesbian when I was 15, because I didn't know  qenderqueer or transgender even existed. Identifying with butch lesbians seemed like the best fit, based on what I was exposed to at the time. Now, 13 years later, I am surrounded by loving supportive friends and family who accept me for who I am, and support me in this journey. Finally I have embraced my truth.  :) The biggest difficulty for me has always been my chest. When I see myself topless I don't recognize the body as my own...it's like staring at a giraffe with no neck. When I learned about top surgery (double mastectomy) my whole world started to make more sense. Come to find out it's actually a fairly common surgery, some call cosmetic, I call corrective. All I ever wanted was for my body on the outside to match the knowledge on the inside. I say knowledge because it's just something that you know. Like you know that you're in love, overwhelmed with awe...your gut instinct. There are just some things that you know, even if you can't put it  into words. 

The surgery alone costs around $8000. Since my insurance doesn't cover any part of it, I will pay out of pocket. I am also paying $340 a month out of pocket for the therapy required as a prerequisite to the surgery. Either way, I'm saving like crazy and any little bit helps! So, with my most humble heart...I would be forever grateful for any help that anyone can give, and  I plan to pay it forward  as much as I can!
