Hello,
Jordan is our 10 1/2 year old son who is a very caring and thoughtful young man who has a heart for others. He has been growing his hair to raise money for a cause. He did not know what the cause was in the beginning however, after the 2014/15 hockey season, he heard of, and saw Landen. Landen played hockey with Jordys older brother Braden and Jordan has learned more of Landens Dystonia and wanted to raise money for him to be able to have his brain surgery.
Landen Adams is an 11 year old boy who has been diagnosed with Dystonia, a neurological disorder which causes involuntary muscle spasms in his feet. Landen has always been an active young man playing many sports since the day he could walk...baseball, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and he has been swinging a golf club since he was 2 years old. Many of these activities have become increasingly difficult for him to play due to the spasms in his feet. It is heartbreaking to watch him struggle due to the spasms in his feet. Landens parents have taken him to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnisota and doctors have suggested a Deep Brain Stimulator surgery for Landen. DBS is commonly used in older patients with Dystonia or Parkinson's but is less commonly used in children. Landens family is trying to raise money for Landen to do the surgery in the United States where Deep Brain Stimulator surgery is more commonly practiced in children.
Jordan's personal goal is to raise $2000 for Landen. That is 100% his goal. We have set up our own 'Go Fund Me' only so Jordan can see how far he is coming along with his goal. 100% of money raised will be passed over to Landen (please note: Go Fund me does take 5%). Jordys' Hair...For those who know Jordan, his hair is almost a story in itself. It gets to the point where people mistake 'him' for a 'her' and he insists on cutting it. Well...he's been our 'daughter' and his brothers 'sister' according to every stranger we come across for the past 3 months. This is actually something that does bother him, however he does have an end goal in mind and would love to reach it. Another goal of his is to be able to donate his hair for a wig so it doesn't just go to waste. He would like to grow his hair long enough so he is still able to have hair long enough where it is viable to donate the hair for a wig and he can still be left with a nice boys haircut! He does not want to shave his head. This added quite a bit of length to how long his hair must be!!
