Patrick's ALS equipment drive !

My best friend Patrick has been battling ALS (Lou Gerhig’s disease) for three years and now we need your help. ALS is a terrible disease that slowly takes away muscular function making every day activities not only difficult, eventually impossible. Patrick is an independent man. He had a very successful career as a tradesman, he owns his own home and has always provided for his family. Patrick has been an active member of his community helping others, especially those with addiction challenges. Yet this disease, which cruelly made itself known first in Patrick’s hands, the tools of his livelihood, is creating not only physical but financial challenges.
ALS has slowly taken more and more of Patrick’s independence from him. His amazing wife Tikky has had to stop working in order to provide full time care. Their home had to have renovations to make way for a wheelchair. Their life has been completely refocused into managing Patrick’s ALS. Through all of this, they both remain positive and devoted to each other. Patrick is optimistic about finding the right regimen to manage this disease, while hope for a cure endures.
Despite having insurance, Patrick and Tikky are facing some incredible financial challenges. Most notably, Patrick needs a van outfitted for a wheelchair. There will be a need for equipment to enable Patrick to communicate if the disease continues to impact his speech. Patrick is trying to work with the various ALS charities in order to take advantage of what is available, but there is still a significant, financial shortfall. Money will go towards a wheelchair van ,handicapped shower, power wheelchair, communication technology and breathing equiptment.
THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP. Last year it was great fun and terrific show of support to do the ALS Bucket Challenge. Millions were raised globally for ALS research, which is fantastic but not going to help Patrick in the near term. Please donate, any amount, to help Patrick tackle his imminent financial needs. I would like to raise $40,000 in order to attempt to meet these needs.
