Transporting Precious Cargo

Lions Bear Lake Camp
We are a non-profit, wheelchair accessible, camp that specializes in working with special needs children. Our summer programs focus on children who are visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, juvenile arthritis and autistic. We also provide programs for the families of special needs children. Our summer programs are free or offered at a reduced rate to campers.

During spring and fall the camp is open to outside groups including, school groups that center around kids with special needs.

Our goal is to provide all campers with a real outdoor adventure experience. Universally accessible activities at our 120 acre camp include: low ropes challenge course, climbing tower with zip line, fishing, boating, swimming, archery, tent camping, play area, and nature trails.

With all these amazing activities it can be difficult for some of our campers to make the hike from one adventure to the next. Having a four seat utility vehicle would provide us with the ability and ease to transport campers and staff safely and in a timely manner to their next activity. This would be a great advantage for children who have walkers, braces and wheelchairs. Have you ever had a group of children who all decide they have to use the restroom at the same time, and at the farthest point away from the nearest bathroom? This is an everyday occurrence at Lions Bear Lake Camp. Our patched up, beat up, barely moving, ancient, old...OLD golf cart is on its last life. Please help us raise funds to give our campers a way not only to reach their next challenge, but also to the restroom. The utility vehicle will also be utilized as a way to transport wood up the hill to the bonfire pit and luggage from the parking lot to the cabins. Another advantage to having this UTV is it will give staff the ability to show camp to interested parents and visitors. Quick trips to the nurse's station would be possible when medical treatment is necessary.

Mission Statement
