Lexi: Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My name's Tim Simmons. I am raising money for my girlfriends daughter. Lexi has a medical condition that is rare due to the fact that every test shows no allergies and she has this from pretty much touching someone or being warm. It is called Chronic Urticaria. All funds are being used for traveling to Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh, and towards Lexi's medical expenses which includes one of the injections that she receives in which the insurance refuses to pay for it and also for the expense of traveling to Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh on a weekly basis.
The picture you see above is of Lexi, taken a little over a year ago. Just a few short months before this childs vibrant life takes a turn for the worst.
In November of 2014, Lexi was prescribed Bactrim and Zythromax for a long period of time for a severe chest infection. 3 months past, and in February of 2015, Lexi came down with a severe case of hives. And after going through the standard avenues of dealing with them and the methods failing, a specialist determined Lexi's condition to be Erythema Multiforme and Chronic Urticaria at the severest form.
Lexi is now on Cyclosporin; an immune supressant usually used for transplant patients or severe life threatening dermetalogical patients. The Cyclosporin prevents Lexi from attending school, being in public places unless necessary and only with a facial mask covering her mouth and nose, and it has a long list of very nasty and dangerous side effects; including liver and kidney damage and the posibility of sudden death. Lexi will be on Cyclosporin for the next 3 years of her life. And she requires blood drawing on a weekly basis and monthly trips to Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh for the next 3 years.
Insurance refuses to pay for the shots because they are only FDA approved for 12 yrs old and older. Since she is 10 1/2yrs old they are allowed to refuse to pay for them. The company that makes them only pays for 2 shots and then every week it comes out of our pocket.
I can't thank you enough just for taking the time to read this. Please keep sharing and donate. Every little bit helps!
