My name is Josh Weiss and this is the story of a family I know who are divided by war and bureaucracy. In the holiday season, when families come together from far and wide to be together this family cannot. Please read their story below and consider helping bring them together.
Alison is a Mom with a very simple goal. She wants to re-unite her family for Christmas. Her two little girls, India, 6, and Lulu, 3, are growing up without Omer, their Daddy. Alison is trying every means to bring them back together.
What happened? For many years they were a happy family living in the village where Omer grew up. The village just happens to be in southeastern Turkey, near the Syrian border. When Alison came back to the UK a few years ago to care for her ailing father, the family became trapped by British rules and regulations.
Now a deadly war zone - deemed unsafe for British citizens - Alison, India and Lulu are prevented from returning to the southeast of Turkey to see their daddy. Meanwhile Omer, due to tightening immigration rules, has been refused further visas to visit his dear ones in the UK.
The family has spent only 11 weeks together this year. Thanks to the internet, they can communicate, but Omer is forced to watch his children celebrate their birthdays, read their first books, and enjoy special events through a computer screen.
But Alison has a developed a plan and you can help her to fulfill it. She wants to take the girls to Malta for Christmas, where they can finally meet up with their daddy after so long. And she has started a campaign ‘Let us see Daddy’ to bring this unfair law (that only allows spouses entry to the UK if the British partner meets certain financial requirements) to public attention. But it all takes money - and it is the lack of money which is the precise reason Omer cannot get a UK visa.
Please help Alison get her family to Malta so Lulu and India can get the best Christmas present and see their daddy.
