LEF Climbs 50 in 365 for the NRDC

Tax deductible
Climbing, hiking, camping, and other activities as we know them can and will die if we continue to devalue them (see http://rockandice.com/climbing-news/bear-ears-decimated-reduced-by-over-80/). LEF may be ‘just a gym;’ and we know we don’t have the resources to defend outdoor access on our own, but we CAN support the organizations devoted to fighting for and preserving our open spaces.

We’ve created a campaign we’re calling the LEF Nifty 50. This campaign will serve as a fundraiser for the National Resources Defense Council and an awareness generator of our natural resources. This is an opportunity to remember what outdoor recreation gives back to all of us; we don’t want to stand idly by and face the consequences of lost or restricted access.

Our goal is for our membership base to collectively climb in every state in 2018. For the first active member who sends us a video of themselves climbing a natural formation (where climbing is permitted) in one of our beautiful states, we will donate $100 to the NRDC. Subsequent video submissions showcased in the same state from members and non-members alike will generate an additional $10 donation to the NRDC*. Please note that in submitting your video, you grant us the right to post and share it across all of our brands and on all of our platforms. Find directions for submissions
and other ways to follow our cause at lefclimbing.com/lefnifty50.

Want to get in on the action? We’ve created a GoFundMe page to track all donations associated with this campaign. You can pledge an amount that makes sense for you and follow along with us. Even if it’s $1 per state climbed in, every dollar matters. Nominate friends and family by using the hashtag #LEFnifty50.

Remember that climbing is inherently dangerous; serious injury or even death are possible outcomes. Climbing should only be undertaken by experts or under the supervision of an expert.

Please do not jeopardize access further by climbing where climbing is not permitted. We can’t accept videos of poached climbing areas or those without a permissive use agreement.

*Not to exceed $200 in total per state.
