As many of our friends and family know, the Holdens are having a baby boy in late December! We are so excited and have made many changes in our lives to provide for our son including buying a new home and a car. Things seemed to be going very well and we felt like we had everything we needed to welcome our new family member, until... DUN DUN DUNNN...
Out of nowhere, we noticed expensive structrual issues within a month of moving into our new home that weren't caught in the inspection. Our new car was totalled by an inattentive driver 3 days after rolling it off the lot. Add in a few more unexpected home/car/health related bills and we're starting to get a little worried.
(That's where this fund comes in.)
As a contractor, Whitney's maternity leave is non-existent and 100% unpaid. She'd like to take at least a few weeks off to dedicate all of her time to the baby, but we need to build back up our savings a little bit in order to make that happen!
TL;DR - Babies are expensive. Our new home is falling apart. Our new car is totalled. Our maternity leave savings is kaputz.
