Pilgrimage to Peru

Donation protected
Three students from Lutheran Campus Ministry at Louisiana State University--Sarah Strode, Matt Blanchard, and Beau Curet--are accompanying Pastor Mike Button on a Pilgrimage to Peru July 17th through July 27th. The goals of this pilgrimage is to explore Peruvian culture, foster relationships with Peruvian young adults, and learning about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peru. This is an opportunity for the students to both deepen their faith and expand their world-view as they begin the next phase of their lives.

The students will spend the first five days of the trip visiting either Cusco and Machu Picchu or Iquitos and the Amazon Jungle. The last five days of the trip will be spent in Lima visiting with local congregations and learning more about the ministry of the Lutheran Church in Peru and Sembrando, a ministry of the Lutheran Church designed to help combat malnutrition and poverty.

Thanks to generous donations, the cost of the trip itself is covered for all three students and Pastor Button. The goal of this fundraising effort is to help cover the cost of round-trip airfare from Houston to Peru, which currently stands at about $900 a person, plus taxes and fees.

Even small donations will help, because lots of small donations really add up. Any money raised above our goal of $4,000 will be used to help fund ongoing campus ministry efforts at LSU, including next year's trip.
