Lauren has been with Special Olympics athlete for over five years, lives in Aberdeen and is a member of our Grampian Club. She has been selected to represent Great Britain Alpine Skiing at the World Winter Games 2017 in Austria, one of the biggest events in the Special Olympic global calendar which will attract over 3,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from over 110 countries.
For Lauren to take up her place, she needs to raise £2,500 to cover costs such as transport, accommodation, kit, equipment and extra training costs.
Joining Special Olympics Great Britain has been a life changing experience for Lauren who loves the skiing, the competition, the striving, the getting better with every race, and being part of a team has allowed her to thrive, make friends and build her confidence, so much so that she now works in a local café and has acted in three plays at her drama group.
Lauren is looking forward to competing on the world stage, pushing herself more, and maybe, winning a medal or two.
