On Friday 5/22 around 5:45 in the evening my family's lives would be forever changed. While my parents were at home they were allerted by a nieghbor that there was smoke coming from their garage. When my dad went to investigate by opening the door from the kitchen to the garage he encountered a backdraft that caused the house to catch on fire. We are blessed and fortunate that my parents and two sibilings that live in the home were all physically okay, unfortunately all of our families possesions, pictures, heirlooms....everything was lost.
We are a family of 7 kids, 2 parents, 2 grandchildren (with one on the way) and our dog Karley. We are grateful to have eachother, but all of my families physical possesions and house are a complete loss. My parents are not home owners, they are hardworking amazing parents, but unfortunately providing for their children came before protecting themselves with renters insurance. My parents, 15 year old sister who is still in school, and my brother who is has just returned back to school to finish his degree are all displaced because of this tragedy.
This campaign is to help my family who has always opened their home to anyone who didn't have a place to go during the holidays despite having a full house with all of us kids. The ones who would spend their last pennies providing for their children while they went with out, and my family who always finds a way to help those in need and never ask for anything in return.
They are now learning the lesson of how to be humble and accept help. I am confident that with the help of our wonderful friends, family and community that we will be able to rebuild and get back on our feet. They need funds for everything from socks, toiletries, school books, furniture to finding a new place to live.
