A Leash for Every Furr Friend

The dog days of summer bring exciting opportunities for our four-legged canine companions. Each season, Saint Frances Animal Center, Georgetown, S.C, offers a fair weather program for our canine friends called, 'Walk A Saint." Local volunteers and staff members transport a group of fur friends to the historical Front Street and Marshwalk for a weekly excursion throughout town. Our little buddies get an adventure away from the shelter, meet-and-greet the locals and visitors and have exposure to the public. We are often faced with the dilemma of replenishing suitable and sizable collars, harnesses and leashes that will allow as many fur friends as possible to experience this adventure.
As a board member and animal advocate, I have participated in many Front Street frolics and enjoy the experience as much as our fur buddies. I only wish that more could participate but limitations are often a result of lack of equipment. We are faced with the great task of supporting and maintaining a viable and suitable facility that often times the funding isn't as expendable as we would like it to be.
I am reaching out to all my animal friends, lovers and supporters to help us provide a leash and harness or collar for all our residents. At one time we may house over 300 canines. Allowing each dog to have their own walking equipment will not only assist with extending our Walk A Saint program but it will also support  efficiency and smooth transitions during their daily walks at the shelter, cleaning time and other public events.
We all appreciate and enjoy having our own, personal space and belongings. Shouldn't our four-legged fur friends have the same opportunity? Help me, help them, by supporting our efforts to purchase and replenish our walking wardrobe.
