Guatemala Mission Trip 2015

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with great joy that I write to tell you that I will be traveling to Guatemala this Summer to serve the Lord by doing what I love, teaching!  The church that I attend, The Village Church, has supported Casa de Libertad, a church in Guatemala City.  Several times a year, people from the Dallas area travel to Guatemala to serve and equip the members of Casa de Libertad in different ways, including training teachers or firemen. I am very excited for this opportunity. I have wanted to go on one of the teaching missions with our church to Guatemala for a long time, but being a full time graduate student during the Spring, Summer and Fall for the past two years prevented me from doing so.

I will be traveling with a group of women to work for Cadaniños, an orphanage for children with special needs. They have one physical therapist and five “nannies” on staff that are overworked and need support for training, updating programs, repairing equipment, and encouragement. While I am excited to use the gifts the Lord has given me to serve the physical needs of these children and help the staff, our main mission is to show Christ’s love to a group of kids who are not respected in their culture because of their impairments, and to the people who care for them.

I ask you for pray for me, the women in my group, and the children and their caregivers we will work with.  I ask that you would pray for our safety and for the safety of the families we are leaving at home.  Please pray that we will be able to serve the children and caregivers of this orphanage as well as anyone else the Lord puts in our path.  Please pray that the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ will touch their hearts as we touch their broken bodies.  Pray that we will be able to use this experience to serve the Lord in our communities when we return. Pray for our spiritual and physical preparation for this time.

This gofundme is for my personal flight for Guatemala. Any support I receive here will be a personal donation for my flight and will not be elligible for a charitable donation on your tax return.
