Tom Montague's Medical Expense Fund

Donation protected
Our friend Tom Montigue ("Postman Tom" as many of us call him) is well on his way to recovery. He will soon be released from the skilled nursing care facility to continue his recovery at home. As wonderful as this news is it also involves some hurdles. He will need a handicapped access ramp to enter his home for starters.  There are mounting medical bills that are not covered by insurance.

As a community I am hoping that we will be able to pull together and help Tom and his family over these hurdles.

I have included a copy of a news report that aired on WMUR for anyone who wasn't aware of Tom's accident that occurred back in October of last year.

No donation is too small! Please consider helping our friend Tom as he enters this next phase of his recovery.

ALTON, N.H. -
A quick-thinking 6-year-old girl is being credited with helping her grandfather after a tree fell on him.

Alton police were called to a wooded area on Trask Side Road on Sunday evening. They said the 6-year-old was out for a walk with her grandfather when he noticed a 30-foot tree that was leaning. He pushed on it, and it fell on him.

The girl ran across the street to a neighbor's house, where she called 911. She was then able to guide emergency crews to her grandfather, police said.

"His 6-year-old granddaughter had enough presence of mind to call 911, and that is commendable," said Chief Ryan Heath. "She is the hero here in regards to getting him out of the woods. He would not have survived his injuries if she didn't call when she had."

The girl's mother was proud of her quick thinking.

"She didn't hesitate. She just ran right home and call 911 like we taught her," Colleen Teeter said.

Teeter said she's grateful that the teachings stuck.

Family members said the grandfather, 59-year-old Tom Montague, suffered a broken neck and pelvis and is in intensive care in the intensive care unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
