Save the Lights - Pottstown Schools

Pottstown School District Save The Lights Campaign
An inspection showed the stadium's four 120-foot light poles at Grigg Memorial Field have become unsafe, and could fall down during heavy winds, so the school board decided the lights must be removed. The district estimates the cost of buying and installing new poles and lights at $225,000 to $300,000. The board decided it can't afford to use taxpayer money for the project, since tax rates already are high and the district is struggling with a budget deficit. So on May 12, the poles at Grigg field were shortened to about half their size.

It was the end of an era, an era that figured prominently in many students and former students’ lives. An era that included Friday night football games, band practice in the summer under the lights and much more tradition.
Please donate to this worthy cause and bring back a tradition to the Pottstown.
