The Sandwich Campaign
Donation protected
My name is Maya and I am from Seattle, Washington. After coming to North Carolina for college, I lost my purpose. I couldn't figure out what I could do to help those around me.
Whenever I get sad, my parents taught me to do something to better the world. Being sad is a feeling, it doesn't help anyone- including myself.
I decided that I would make sandwiches whenever I was sad. I made brown paper bags filled with sandwiches, cookies, carrots and little notes of encouragement. I found a place called the Bethesda Center to give these bags to. Each time I went, everyone was kind and inviting. It felt like a piece of home.
Now I am trying to raise money to continue creating these bags of food. No one deserves to go hungry and everyone deserves to feel loved. Each note reminds these individuals that they matter. I plan to involve my peers in creating these bags but we need help funding this project. Your money could really make a difference to the homeless population of Winston-Salem.
All donations will go directly to buying food.
