My Journey To Uganda

Donation protected
Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We are constantly bombarded with requests to help these “crowdfunding” causes, so I appreciate you looking into this with me.

I have never asked for support like this before, so forgive me as I stumble through it. Honestly, The cynic in me has far too often rolled my eyes at these kind of requests, and so the irony is not lost on me.

The reason for this letter is to inform you, my friends, that this November I will be traveling to Jinja, Uganda for the purpose of partnering with Arise Africa and Smooth Via.

The Arise Africa Orphanage-

Located in the town of Jinja, this orphanage cares for many children through housing, ministry, and education. It is here that I will be spending my time during the week, taking care of, listening, praying, laughing and loving with the kids that live there. Doing what I can to make an impact on lives there by sharing Christ through word and actions.

Assisting the Via family-

Smooth (Jonathan) Via has made a huge impact in my life. More than just a youth leader, he has been a mentor to me; a strong foundational example of what a Christ centered, man of action can accomplish in the lives of those around him. I will be staying with his family on the weekends, learning from and ministering alongside of him with whatever his church needs are.

I truly believe that God has opened this opportunity for me as I’ve had this on my heart for quite a while. And although any kind of trip of this magnitude is exciting, it is not my desire to make this a token “mission trip.” I really believe this will be a component in my ministry life moving forward.

A few things that this trip is not:

* this is not a trip for the sake of getting a new profile picture with African kids (my dad has Photoshop, no need there)

* it is not just an opportunity for me to get a new life perspective (although I’m sure that will happen.)

*it is not to bring about any glorification for myself. I would pray for my whole trip to be cancelled if that ever became a thought.

What this trip requires -

Primarily the biggest need is prayer. Traveling safety, Ministry, and finances all come from the will of God. So I really want His guidance 1st and foremost throughout this endeavor. I truly believe this is what God has placed on my heart. (If I had the choice, mine would’ve been the Bahamas), so prayer is by far the most important thing.

Also, if this resonates with you, and it makes sense for you to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I wish it didn’t take so much money, but it does. I am right now selling as much as I can, and earning as much as I can to make this happen. Any money that is raised will be handled by Generation Church, for accountability and donation purposes. I pray that you give out of abundance and with zero guilt attached. I'd rather have you pray for my words & heart to be genuine throughout this whole trip. Any amount will help and all will be appreciated!

So many of you have been friends to me and my family for years. It is truly my desire to be used by God in whatever I do and wherever he puts me. And it is my prayer that I can be a blessing to the people in Jinja, as many of you have been such a blessing to me.

Grace & Peace,
