Every day, millions of healthy, friendly, loving dogs and cats are put to sleep in America's shelters. It's not because they're aggressive, unfriendly, have behavioral problems, or any other traits associated with "shelter pets" - it's simply because the shelter doesn't have room and the animals aren't given enough time to find loving homes.
That's where rescues come in. Rescues save lives. They take the dogs and cats at the top of the put-to-sleep list out of the shelter and into foster homes, where the journey to their forever homes begins.
Home Free Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer rescue right here in Central New Jersey. They pull dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in the South and bring them up to New Jersey for placement in loving homes in NJ and NY. So far, they have saved thousands of puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats and continue to save lives every day.
However, they cannot save lives without funding. The funding covers the fees to get the animals out of the shelter, transport from the South to NJ, any necessary veterenarian trips, and all food, medication, and whatever else the fosters need.
We would like to give back to Home Free for saving lives and to help them continue to save more lives.
