Keller Williams Sold Our Family of 9 a House Contaminated with Meth.

This is our story of how Keller Williams sold us a house that is contaminated with meth.  We have been fighting for almost a year for them to rectify this situation.  The purpose of this GoFundMe is to gather the funds needed to clean the house of meth, so we can get our belongings out of storage and move into our house before winter.

** A lot of great questions have been asked in the comments!  PLEASE refer to our FAQs update where we answer those questions and hopefully any questions you have!**

We know everyone cannot contribute financially, but it would also help greatly to send emails.  More information at the end of the story.
On July 20th, 2017 we bought a house from Keller Williams' realtor Jody Draper, who was also part owner.  We were excited to move into the old 4,000 sq ft house, with indoor pool, 60'x60' shop with an apartment, carport, and 4 car detached garage on 2 acres.

We knew it needed some work.  However, we were not prepared for the nightmare that would unfold just a week AFTER the house closed.
The OTHER owner of the house revealed, and later tests confirmed, that the entire property was contaminated with METH! Every surface of every building contain significant traces of drugs!!  Obviously not an idea living situation with a family with 7 children.  Read more about the toxic dangers of living in meth house from a family with a similar story here

After careful consideration, we decided to buy an older trailer and live on our property.  We were led to believe the cleaning and remediation of the buildings would only take a few months.   Cleaning involves, but not limited to, ripping out any wood, cabinets, porous surfaces, carpets, and laminate flooring.  Also the drywall and H VAC system need to be cleaned. The list is long.  Remediation means everything needs to be put pack to make the dwelling livable. Keller Williams carries an insurance that should have quicly kicked in for paying for this.

That certainly was not the case!  Almost a year later and we are still without a home!  We made it through the fall and into the winter.

The trailers provided warmth, but not much room for our large family.  We had to keep our food in the army tent, in critter-proof containers.

We worked throughout the winter to put in a fence around our property for safety.

To our horror, we also discovered that the owner living there was stealing electricity, and illegal wiring was found throughout the house and shop.  Many cords like these were melted and the wood behind the sheet rock was charred.  A true fire hazard!  The power company wouldn't allow the power on without it brought up to code, so that was more unexpected money spent.

Living in a trailer is cramped!  We tried to be tidy and organized, but even 9 people each having just a little bit of anything still adds up to a lot of stuff!  Travis is an officer in the US Air Force, his assignment is to attend graduate school at Oregon State University. Travis is desperately trying to study for an exam.

Here we are celebrating the new year.....and 5 months of trailer living.  Still no help from Keller Williams.

A true angel brings us dinner!  Cooking and doing dishes proves to be difficult in such tight quarters.

Now that we have a registered meth house with the State of Oregon, we have no choice but to hire certified cleaners.  Travis quickly grew tired of the trailer, so he decided to make the garage into a living space.  We had them come out to clean garage and carport.  Once it tested clean, Travis and older children tore off the leaky metal garage roof and replaced it with an asphalt roof.  Inside the garage scouts, family, and friends framed walls, ran electricity, put in water pipes, and hung sheet rock.  Donations of time and material from our church friends helped us through the winter and this renovation.
Working on the garage was not always easy or fun. Water leaked in from a where a tree was growing through the walls.

The tree is removed....another unexpected expense.

Progress is made on the garage.  It is still very cold.  Travis studied in here after the kids went to bed  by the light of a desk lamp.  He huddled against a space heater wearing a parka, two sets of gloves, winter boots, and a knit cap. He still maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Since we cannot afford the cleaners to come full time, they were coming between jobs.  They have to rip out any exposed wood and porous materials.  The kitchen and bathrooms were the first to go.

The lawyers have put a halt to the cleaning, so garbage heaps are everywhere: all through the house and shop, on the porch, and outside.  The cleaners have been very understanding about about the long, drawn out legal battle to get this paid for.  They haven't asked for a dime while we frustratingly wait for Keller Williams to rectify this situation.

Spring has finally arrived, and we are still waiting!!  This marks 11 months not living in our house.  It feels like Keller Williams is intentionally drawing this legal nightmare out as long as they can hoping, out of desperation, we take a lower settlement.

Little do they know that we are SUPER confident that justice will prevail!  We will persist and fight to the end for what is right!

At the rate we're going with Keller Williams and their insurance lawyers, chances are we will still be living in our garage and trailer this next winter.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to gather the fund needed to finish cleaning the house so we can at least move in and have a place to call home before winter.
