The Groebner family is still in need of financial support. A heart & double lung transplant is not a cure for a child with PH. It's only a different journey. One that needs ongoing support. Please share this post and the need for Organ Donor Awareness. Thank you! Tiana~
"The amount of organs available for transplant is not even closely comparable to the amount of people on the wait list in need of an organ. There are currently 123,000 people nation-wide on the national organ transplant wait list. Eight people die every day waiting for an organ that will never come. Millions of families wait in agony every day, never knowing if their loved one even has a future. There are no guarantees. There are no promises. There are no words to use as comfort. There are not enough organ donors out there to save these “wait listed” people. There just isn’t enough education and organ donation awareness out there to make people think about signing up and giving the gift of life. People don’t even think about it until they are in mourning over the loss of a loved one and the question gets asked." -Ava Kaufman
A heart and double lung transplant is NOT a cure for a child with PH. Katie Grace may have kicked PH out the door but she's on a different journey now, with different challenges. The Groebner family is still in need of financial support. Let's lift them up this holiday season with love and continued prayer. Thank you all for your kind donations and for your continued support! Katie Grace Groebner of Clayton, CA covers the screen of Nasdaq in Times Square in New York for Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month!
A Heart & Lung Transplant is NOT a cure for PH. Spread the word and help these kids!
In an effort to raise global pulmonary hypertension awareness, Van Wormer, who was diagnosed in 2006, is using his lungs and his voice to help educate the public about PH. Van Wormer teamed up with his dad Steve, member of the PHA Board of Trustees and an On-Air Promo Producer, on the production of a series of PSAs about PH. The PSAs have been delivered to 12,000 radio and TV stations throughout the U.S. and are currently being seen across the entire Fox Networks Group, Fox Hispanic Networks, CBS, Radio Disney, Hulu, Univision, Telemundo, ESPN, Pivot, The CW and Universal Sports Network.
“It’s so cool to see the work my dad and I have been doing reach the biggest screen in the world. I hope this brings a lot more attention to PH so we can find a cure.” - Lucus Van Wormer
Re: Transmission Impossible. So how about this... While the Groebner family is dealing with Katie Grace's cold at the hospital, why don't we try to raise $2,500 for the family to buy a new transmission for their 2005 Saturn Relay Mini Van? That way it might be more affordable option and someone can later install it as a gift. Anyone able to help out with the funding? Tiana~
The Groebner family's Van is still in need of repair. They need $4000 to fix the transmission. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated! If anyone knows of a dealership that might be able to help, please let me know. Thank You! Tiana~
Thank you to all who have been here to offer encouragement, prayers, and support. As Katie Grace has been home for a week she still has a long way to go. Tomorrow we will be heading back for IV infusion, clinics, labs, and x-ray. Adjusting to a new way of life has had its obstacles. October fest came and went and Katie Grace was sad to find out she will NEVER be able to go again. We have also started the steps to selling our home and moving. We hope to find a place as close as possible as it's because of the beautiful surroundings and livestock properties that produce Aspergillus a mold that is toxic to lung transplant.
Katie Grace and family are back home but still need our help! The Saturn is in need of repair as the transmission needs to be replaced. Is anyone able to assist in any way? Thank you for your continued support! Tiana~
The Groebner family needs $4,500 to fix the Saturn that was gifted to them by a generous donor earlier this year. Apparently the transmission and ignition need repair. Can anyone help out? The Groebner family lost Kathy's income when they went in for Katie Grace's Heart and Double Lung Transplant 3 months ago. Any dealership/auto repair contacts or additional financial support would be helpful for the family! Thanks. Tiana~
$10,375 of the $20k goal has been raised by 78 people in 10 months for Katie Grace and her family.
There have been over 2,800 Facebook shares of this web page with almost 6000 visits. If each person who visited this page donated $5.oo each, the fund would raise $30,000 for the families needs... What a gift that would be for Groebner family!
Do you have 5?

UPDATE: I understand that the RMH is under construction and that Katie Grace and her family had to move to a hotel nearby. Unfortunately it is a hotel that allows smokers and dogs. That just doesn't seem appropriate for Katie Grace and her family when they all need to rest and heal and eat well... Is there anyone with connections that can help put them in a non smoking part of a hotel, without barking dogs, where they can have the peace and quiet they need? Maybe a restaurant where they can get the kind of meals they need to keep up their strength? Please message me if you have any ideas. Thank You! Tiana~
CNBC Bay Area News - August 1, 2014
Parents of Heart-Lung Transplant Recipient "Real Heroes" says Dr. Jeffrey Feinstein Director of the Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease at LPCHS. "If you look at the amount of work that I did, compared to amount of work Katie Grace's parents did? There's no comparison."
Katie Grace beat PH but a new journey has begun! Please continue to keep Katie Grace in your prayers as her body works hard to adapt to her new organs. The Groebner family still needs support, due to loss of income and extra medical expenses, so any donations would be extremely helpful. Thank you! Tiana~
HELPING HANDS NEEDED: Both Groebner cars need to get repaired. Some kind and generous people have stepped up to offer to help out to make that happen. Right now the Caddy is in the shop getting a diagnostic, but John and Kathy can't get the Saturn into the dealership because they need the transportation. Now they will be moving out of the Ronald McDonald house and living further away from the hospital and we really don't want them to end up stranded in the Saturn right? If anyone has a loaner car that John and Kathy can use please let me know ASAP so we can help take some burden off this family so they can get back on their feet. Thank you! Tiana~
Update: Katie Grace's fever is gone! Thank goodness for friends! "Riding on the bed, hiding from the nurse, and contemplating life with Miss Katie Grace. Transplant didn't do anything to your spunk missy." — with Gracie Groebner and Kathy Groebner at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford.
I am praying that a Dealership in the San Francisco Bay Area will be able to help the Groebner Family with the repairs needed on both their Saturn Mini Van and Cadillac, both vehicles which were donated to the family. With the families loss of income, due to Katie Grace's medical needs, the family could really use the support to get both vehicles running properly! The Saturn needs a new transmission and the Cadillac is needing various repairs. The A/C is not working and Katie Grace can not ride in the car with the windows down due to her medical condition. Let's get the word out! Tiana~
UPDATE by Kathy Groebner:
"I can't sleep nothing helps. So I thought I'd give an update. So 3 weeks ago Katie Grace had a Heart and double Lung transplant. Good thing because her heart was really more messed up than I thought. Who'd guessed. She graduated 5th grade - amazing - and went to ALL the parties that week including having a beginning of summer pool party at our house only 9hrs before we got the transplant call! We were told by the Surgeon and again today by pathology that her heart was so damaged that a lung transplant wouldn't have helped? The past 3 weeks (hasn't even been a month) have blurred by. All of your thoughts, prayers and the people on the sides like Tiana Waterfall (Katie's Dream) Lexie Wakefield, and Hope Groebner are keeping you all up to date on the latest. Then there's Lisa Miller, Donna Meisner, MaryMac Propersi, Lois Gustafson Wullenweber on the home front, my mom, Graka Groebner, Tami Lum, taking care of Savanha and the dogs. While we've been moving from the hospital, to RMH, and I guess they're moving us somewhere else in a week or 2, blood draws, biopsy (came out good), check ups, pain, horrible headache, a trip to ER, and physical therapy. We have been quiet busy. But today (yesterday) was huge we went to see the old heart and lungs. To think that's what was in my baby is mind boggling! But to think someone lost a baby to save mine is HEART wrenching . I just hope I'm as good a mom as the other mother was and that I never stop honoring this chance she and GOD has given us for a new life. But I know that child and Katie Grace are off to a great start with a village like all of you supporting and cheering them on. Thank you all" — at Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.

A Big Thank You to Amber Salas and Kristy Williams for following and sharing Katie Grace's story! Thanks to these compassionate ladies, they were able to connect with Dr. Keith Bradburn DDS , a dentist in Clayton, who has offered to fix Kathy's broken tooth! It is thoughtful and caring people like you that continue to LIFT this family up. Thank you for sharing Katies Dream, for recognizing the families needs and for reaching out to help! Blesssing to all of you. Tiana~
Katie Grace kicked PH but now the Groebner family needs our help. They will be spending their time focusing on Katie Grace's recovery over the next 6 months, so any donations to currently help lift their financial burden for food and lodging, would be greatly appreciated. The family will also require help to maintain their basic family needs such as housing, medical, dental care, transportation and other personal needs. The car needs repair and the van needs a new transmission. Kathy broke a tooth on their way to the hospital for Katie Grace's transplant and they have no dental insurance. Thanks to all of you for the outpouring of support, your generous donations and for covering the family with prayers! Let's help to lift this family up financially so they can continue to focus their energy on The Amazing Katie Grace:) Tiana~ http://www.gofundme.com/katies-dream

The Amazing Katie Grace Groebner just 8 days after a miraculous and successful heart and lung transplant. There were a couple of delays today as there wasn't an available private room for Katie Grace to move into and the chest tube will have to stay in for another day because of too much fluid drainage. Other than that, it look like Katie Grace is feeling better at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital! Thank you for your continued donations and many prayers for Katie Grace and her family. Tiana~
UPDATE by Kathy Groebner: "I would like everyone to know that the Groebner Family appreciates ALL of your thoughts, Prayers, and Gifts that you have sent. I would love to CALL, LIKE, and THANK everyone individually but our days have not been as easy as the photos show at times for each step forward we have also taken steps back but she is truly a strong young lady and that is because of all the support and prayers you have all given her over the years. She is still in a LOT of PAIN and becomes very agitated with all the things around her." Thank you so much for all your support! Tiana~ #katiesdreamforacure
Katie's Dream has reached over 25% of it's goal today due to your generous donations! Thank you so much for supporting Katie's Dream and her family! I'm sure they are extremely grateful for all the uplifting comments and for the financial relief that so many of you have provided here! Katie Grace is breathing and talking and apparently 2 days ahead of schedule! The Bay Area's Sleeping Beauty is getting her miracle!
For the record: My name is Tiana and I am the one that started Katie's Dream FB and Go Fund me sites. I saw that the family had special needs that they would not ever have asked for help with. Because I am disabled, I am not equipped to handle the monies, so I pleaded with Kathy to allow me to create this site even though it's in her name. I just want to clarify that I am the one posting all the GoFundMe updates and promoting the page, not the family. Thanks to all of you for your kind and generous donations to the Groebners and to Katie's Dream. The family has had tremendous financial burdens for years and your support is not only helpful but lifts the family up with your comments of support, prayers and love.
I thank you all for your kindness:) In Christ, Tiana~
Wishing John a Happy Father's Day today!
Katie Grace's Heart & Lung surgery was completed last night. She was moved to the ICU where she may be for some weeks. Recovery from such a major surgery can take up to 6 months. Continued prayers for Katie Grace's healing would be appreciated. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. Tiana~
Katie Grace is now at Stanford Hospital preparing for surgery. A new Heart & Lung Transplant has been scheduled for 10:30am this Saturday morning. The Groebner family asks for your prayers and positive thoughts be sent their way as well as to the courageous family who lost their child, and lovingly chose to donate their precious gift to Katie Grace so that she could be blessed with a full life. I'm sure Katie Grace would love to hear everyone playing her favorite song today "A Little Bit Longer" by the Jonas Brothers. Love and prayers going out to all families, friends and the entire PH Community that have been following and personally touched by Katie's heroic journey! Thanks to everyone for your generous love and support. Tiana~
For those of you who have not seen the very successful PSA commercial that Katie Gracie Groebner and phriends are in, here it is! CLICK ON KATIE'S PHOTO! The video has been aired on Cosmos and ESPN, and on the East coast during American Idol. Now NASDAQ wants to use it on their building in NY for PH Awareness Month in November! In the meantime, the Groebner family still needs financial support. Any donations are greatly appreciated! Thank You! Tiana~

A Heart and Lung transplant shouldn't be a cure for children with Pulmonary Hypertension.
Get the facts, Know the signs, Help PHA find a cure. World PH Day is on May 5th! In the meantime, heroes like 12 year old Katie Grace and their families still need community support. I know your generous donations have been greatly appreciated by the Groebner family.
Thank you all for your kindness and for your many prayers! Tiana~
Fox News aired this PHA video after American Idol on April 24th, 2014, through Yahoo on Demand. Until 1995, there were no pulmonary hypertension treatments available. Today there are 12 FDA approved medicines for adults, but NONE have been approved for children with PH. Thanks to young hero's like Luke and Katie Grace, willing to share their stories in an effort to promote awareness to PH. Thank you for supporting the Groebner family with your generous donations and for continuing to support Katie's Dream For a Cure.
Kathy, I hope you don't mine that I copied your update here. There are thousands of people that have been following along, praying for Katie Grace and so many kind people who have generously donated to her gofund me account. Thanks to all of you who have blessed the Groebner family with your love, support, donations and prayers. Please keep them coming...they are so graciously appreciated by the family. Tiana~
As I know everyone has been wondering, asking, and praying for Katie Grace and when will she be actively listed. First I'd like to share with you 6yrs ago we were told without a transplant she would not live 1yr. 6yrs ago March 18 she started the IV 24/7 medication that has kept her the happy lively little angel we have watched grow. But in 2013 that changed and the doctors have done what they could but as of 1:30 today March 5, 2014 Katie Grace was actively listed for heart double lung transplant. what this means is we will now have to have our phone on and be ready for a call. I have always prayed that a cure for this disease would come before we got to this point. I will never stop praying for a cure.! Now we're on a new journey. Please continue your prayers for Katie Grace and for a cure for all our phriends. Thank you all. Kathy Groebner.
After a very challenging month, it was a good, uneventful weekend in the Groebner home. No calls to the hospital, just house cleaning, movie watching, and being with friends:) Thanks to all of you for your generous donations and continued support for Katie's Dream for a Cure! Blessings to everyone. Tiana~
So I think I made a mistake on this page in the withdraw. We needed to get tires and when I finished it looks like they may withdraw all funds not sure how that works they never asked for an amount. We are not closing the page at this time just did not understand how it all works. We thank you for all your support and want you to know how the funds are being spent. I feel that is important. Please know it was for car maintenance and I will try to resolve this issue ASAP.
Thank you so much for supporting Katie Dream.
2014 will bring a lot of changes for our family to start a new journey of a ph warriors life. Our family is given hope not only through your financial support but through your thoughts, prayers and encouraging words. But we are also so greatful that you share our story so that others know about pulmonary hypertension to bring awareness to this invisable disease.
Thank you for being part of our life.
May you have a happy healthy 2014,
The Groebner family
This is Tiana ~ I just wanted to say that I started this page for Katie's Dream for a Cure with $20.00 because I wanted to help, but it was all I could afford. We have raised $3,140 in One Month! Thanks to each and every one of you for your generous donations. Every single Donation counts, no matter how small. Please continue to share this page so we can reach our overall goal for Katie's Dream. I wish you all a Safe, Happy, Healthy and Blessed New Year! Tiana~

"I met Katie grace and her family when they first moved to Clayton, staying at a friend's house as they sought more treatment for her pulmonary hypertension. She is a very bright and positive girl for someone who has gone though as much as she has. Now she needs help - she needs to get a heart transplant as she is now in heart failure. Read the below from her mother, Kathy Groebner and click the gofundme link to help towards the costs. You can read my 2008 story on page 8." Andre Gensburger

December 9, 2013
Finally home from a long day doctors and test 10:30am ~ 6pm. We ended with drawing yes "26" tubes of blood. It will take 2~3weeks for them to all come back. Once that is done John and I will go for 6hrs of mental, psychologist, and transplant understanding. Then during that time the team will decide how to list her. Katie Grace was told today that she is now in end stage PH and is now in heart failure, she knows she has more tests and was given a brief on what will be expected of her now(a lot for an 11yr old) . Please pray, all tests come back healthy, that the transplant organizations except her, and her heart holds up till they have a match. Unfortunately: this is my only wish for Christmas. God has blessed us with so much but it's because of all your support and prayers. Thank you.
Jennifer Hodges and KGO Radio News. Thank you so much for your support! Katie's Dream fundraiser will air throughout the day on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in honor of Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month and all the courageous PH Warriors. http://www.kgoradio.compage.php?page_id=16823
UPDATE: More Challenges. Due to Katie Grace's medical condition, the Groebner Family will now be forced to sell their home in order to move away from the live stock animals that put Katie Grace at risk for the Asperigillus mold. The next step is to see if the city wants to buy back or forgive the agreement on the house so please pray about that for the Groebner family! Your support has helped them so much emotionally so let's keep lifting this family up! Please continue to donate. Everyone's got 5! Tiana~
UPDATE: June 14, 2014 - Katie Grace is an 11 year old Hero who just received a miraculous heart-lung transplant at Stanford Hospital after surviving Pulmonary Hypertension for 6 years! She had been on Oxygen Therapy and IV Medication 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for many years. Katie Grace now needs time to recover. It will be a long road ahead, but she has tremendous strength, courage and faith. She has the best medical care, is surrounded with love and is covered in prayer from across the world. In the meantime, the family has lost it's income due to their needing to be with Katie Grace, so they are really in need of financial support.
This God loving, awe inspiring family has survived many years despite extraodinary financial and medical challenges. A hardship tough enough to break the strongest of families, but not the Groebner's! They are a kind, loving, selfless family bound in faith and love and they will get through this too, thanks to the generous donations and support from people like you who have followed their amazing journey.
The Groebner family now needs to spend their time focusing on Katie Grace's recovery over the next 6 months, so any donations to currently help lift their financial burden for food and lodging, would be greatly appreciated. The family will also require help to maintain their basic family needs such as housing, medical, dental care, transportation and other personal needs. The car needs repair and the van needs a new tranmission. Kathy broke a tooth on their way to the hospital for Katie Grace's transplant and they have no dental insurance. Thanks to all of you for the outpouring of support, your generous donations and for covering the family with prayers! Let's help to lift this family up financially so they can continue to focus their energy on The Amazing Katie Grace:) Tiana~
The Groebner family sold their home in Minnesota and drove out to California to be close to Stanford in hopes that they might be able to maintain Katie Grace longer then the 1 year survival time doctors gave her in MN. Stanford had a new IV medication to help their daughter maintain until she could get the transplant she needed. CCC and Donna Meisner got them started on raising the Fund money they needed for the transplant. The Groebners are a truly remarkable family with an equally remarkable story. It's inspiring to see how a family going through so many challenges can be filled with so much hope and love and still have enough in their hearts to share with others...
"I am Katie Grace. I am 11 and I have Pulmonary Hypertension, a rare and terminal illness. But I have Faith that God will see me through. Thank you for being here to visit me" ;)
