Kayak the TN River with cancer

Donation protected
It's time for another adventure. I was diagnosed with borderline stage three, grade three breast cancer in April 2013 and given a 40% chance of surviving 3 years unless I did chemo and radiation. I refused treatment and started on my path of natural healing. Now, two and a half years since then, all test results show that I am in excellent health.

Always loving adventure and  not wanting to waste any time, I am about to set off in my bright yellow kayak to paddle from Chattanooga TN to Mobile AL.

I have  sailed across the South Atlantic ocean 8 times. At 23, I double crossed the South Atlantic non-stop solo, spending 72 days alone at sea.
I hitch hiked all over Southern Africa to places like Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho.
After emigrating to the USA in 1994 with little money, I took care of my two sons largely on my own. It was once they had flown the nest that I decided to rediscover my life. Right at that time, I was diagnosed with cancer.

The purpose of this trip is really pretty open. I will be interviewing folks along the way to accrue stories from fishermen, hunters and people who depend on the river in their lives as well as from the recreational users. I would like to talk to  people involved with conservation, water quailty, animal and plant life along the way.

In 1994 I took my sailboat from Spring City, TN to Mobile Alabama and am a little familiar with what to expect. These days there is a lot more emphasis on our Southern Blue Highways which encourage water travellers to make use of our beautiful rivers.

This kayak trip will be a part of the book I am writing, which will also include my very varied background from my birth in Swaziland, to finding my home in Soddy Daisy TN.

Perhaps the real reason for my adventure is to show folks that a serious cancer diagnosis in middle age does not have to slow one down, nor stop one from living  life to the very fullest!

Your kind donation will support my effort to write an interesting account of my travels, and fulfill my yearning to live each moment......

Any donation is very welcome - small, medium or large.
Thank you!

My goal amount will pay for the costs of my trip and any unexpected expenses along the way.
