Kappa Delta Sorority at San Jose State Works to Build Chapter House!
The Gamma Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority at San Jose State University is working to raise money to build its very OWN Chapter house! We just celebrated our 59th year at SJSU on Feb. 4th, 2015 and we're set to become the first Greek organization to ever build its own house in our campus community in nearly 100 years!
Currently we are the only sorority at SJSU that does not own its Chapter house and that makes it challenging for us to remain competitive! Our current house is more than 75 years old and is too expensive to repair, maintain, or continue to rent. Additionally, our landlords plan to no longer use our current house after our lease ends in Summer 2016 so a new house is necessary for our Chapter to remain at San Jose State!
In order for us to provide basic and upgraded facilities for our Chapter membership to live in and utilize, a new house is necessary for us to thrive for another 60+ years! We have already purchased property across the street from campus and have nearly completed the designs of the house which we're very excited about!
Building a new house is expensive for even the most basic of necessities and our Chapter has worked hard to save money and secure financing in order to cover a lot of the costs - but it's still not enough.
All of the funding to construct our new house so far has come from our Chapter saving up money, our Chapter members doing fundraisers, and donations from some of our alumnae but its expensive to build ($3M+) and we're hoping for more assistance!
Can you help? This is a historic and groundbreaking project for a student and Greek organization at San Jose State University and we're proud and excited to pave the way for the future!
