My name is Kai Michelle Scates, I am a Junior at Wiley College, from Southern California, majoring in Mass Communications. I am also a 2014 candidate for Miss United Negro College Fund (UNCF) .The United Negro College Fund is the nation's largest and most effective minority education organization since 1944.This competition provides me the opportunity to raise money for scholarships that benefit Wiley College and 37 other UNCF funded institutions .This very organization helped me afford my education, and now it is time for me to give back.

On campus I am a Dean's List Scholar,and my affiliations include the NAACP, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Student Government Association Public Relations Team, Financial Literacy, and Wiley College’s radio station KBWC 91.1 The Mix.
