Greetings!
Let me share a little bit about myself. My name is Kaela, I am a mother to a toddler and a wife (of 9 years) to a disabled Navy Veteran. I have been attending American Military University online (due to spouses career we moved a lot) for about 4 years. I was in the process of inquiring about switching from part-time schooling status to fulltime when I was informed that if I wanted to continue my education I would need to start paying out of pocket because I had reached the limit with my federal direct loans. I have a years’ worth of Pell Grant at full-time status which will cover about half of the cost.
I’m seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in forensics. My ultimate goal is to work within a forensics lab as a trace evidence technician. This means I am the person who would analyze hair and skin particles as well as fingerprints. This is something I’ve wanted since I was an early teen. As a victim of abuseI knew what it was like to be too scared to speak. As an adult however, I’ve overcame that fear and I want to be a person who gives back to not only their community but their country. I want to be someone who helps give victims a voice. Especially those who are no longer able to speak for themselves.
I know the best way I can do this is if I am able to complete my degree. I have internship applications on standby and a mentor who works within this field who has been helping me navigate what to expect as I graduate. Please help assist me in my goal. Every dollar counts.
