We are Awaken the Dream Productions. We are a small, independent company located in Lafayette, Indiana. We specialize in music videos and short films.
From Ashes is our first feature film written and directed by Autumn Libengood. The story follows a young man named Israel who fights to get out of the life of drugs and human trafficking. This campaign is important to us because we believe it tells the untold stories of millions of children and young adults who are trapped in this life and trade.
Once we complete this film, we will be searching for international distribution in hopes of reaching people across the world.
Our fund-raising goal of $10,000, will help us secure a Sound Designer, duplicate and produce the dvds and move the film into it's final release to audiences all across America.
If we aren't able to reach our goal, most of our money will continue to go to sound design. Once we're able to fund that aspect of our project, we'll be using the rest of the funds for royalties and rights for content we don't own. We CANNOT complete this project without your help.
It seems like Human Trafficking has been brought to our attention more and more every year. When we started this film many had heard of it and the awareness continues to spread every minute. Once people learn of this tragedy, many only hear about the girls involved in it. Rarely does word spread of the boys involved or what makes them so susceptible to pimps and traffickers. Most people say, "Well if it was me I would run away." But what if your own pains and past held you captive and you had no one to turn to for help?
We're not a huge company. At this point we've spent $5,500 dollars on this film and every person who has worked on this project has been a volunteer.
We want people to know you can follow your dreams and create something amazing if you stick to it, and you can do something to change the world right in your own backyard. We stayed right here in Indiana and through that choice we have been able to see several lives change because of it, including ours. And through this campaign, we want to see more lives changed and transformed for the better.
This project has provided many risks and challenges throughout it's creation process.
As stated in the last section, we have worked with all volunteers and with that came its own set of challenges. People back out, life happens, things get hectic. But we've been very blessed to have some amazing people work and stay with it through some very tough times. We have been hit with every challenge in the book. If we sat here and listed them all we could write a novel. Or three. To sum it up we've struggled through discovering deleted footage, destroyed sound, failed leadership, personal attacks, crashed hard drives, crashed cards, formatted cards, mistakes, you name it and it happened.
But through it all we could have quit and no one would have blamed us if we did. It was a battle but the thing that kept me going was knowing that whatever battle I was facing was nothing compare to the victims I was speaking out for. Their cry's and pain kept me up at night. People have asked what kept me going for the last 7 years of my life and that was it. And I won't rest until all have heard and know the pain these people feel and until those people know how loved and valued they are. There is no such thing as unlovable or too far gone for grace.
I wish I could say I faced very problem perfectly. I didn't. I've failed more times than I can count. But that's the beauty of serving a God who still uses us in our failures and mistakes. His grace carried me and through that we kept going. Each day I had to get up and make a choice to keep going and know this battle wouldn't last forever. We were going to win it in the end. We will win it.
