Alyx Summers Mersinger Medical Fees

Alyx 's life changes started Jan. 2, 2015. She was not feeling well and at 36 weeks pregnant Micah wasn't taking any chances and took her to Williston ER. There at the ER it was discovered her platelets and hemoglobin were critically low and blood was given. She was flown to Bismarck St. Alexius Medical Center. The initial diagnosis was a pregnancy related problem called HELLP, which resolves with delivery. Labor was induced and platelets were given and more blood. Baby Mya Anne was born Jan. 3, 2015 and weighed 5 pounds and was 20 inches long. Alyx was rushed to ICU for treatment and tests. Labs were done over and over and bone marrow biopsy was done. The doctors started talking cancer. Today - Jan. 9th - Alyx and Micah and her parents, Dana & Sarah Summers, are at the University of Minnesota Medical Center where she is being treated for cancer. Another bone biopsy is being done to determine the exact type of cancer and the specific treatment needed. Alyx will be in the hospital there for one to two months. Micah and Mya will be nearby. There will be lots of extra expenses from gas to groceries to diapers to you name it. Please consider giving whatever amount you can to help out this young family. They have set up a CaringBridge site for her to check updates and request no flowers as that could cause an infection.
