On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Justina was diagnosed with Stage 4 Advance unfavorable Hodgkin's Disease (Lymphoma). The disease has already spread throughout her entire body including her bone marrow. At 27 years old, she is the sole surviving parent of a precious 8 year old little girl. Her daughter, Lia, tragically lost her father when she was just an infant. Your donation to this cause will not only help save one life but it will help save two. You will be donating to helping a mother overcome her disease and a daughter to have her only surviving parent live. Justina has only state covered medicaid insurance and her family is having a hard time funding the treatment she needs. Due to lack of insurance Justina has been sent home from the hospital, directly after her first round of chemo and a blood transfusion.
After her first round of chemotherapy, Justina was informed that the Chemo has failed. SHe now has to undergo bone marrow transplants, with hospital stays of up to 3 weeks long, for a continued harsher treatment plan. In order to continue this second round of treatment, Justina needs to raise fund to afford a stable place to live. On top of being sick, having a young daughter to care for, she has not been able to work and therefore has lost her housing. She has been couch-surfing with friends, feeling very lost in the process.
Justina is the strongest person I have ever known and I am proud to call her family. Suffering many losses in her short life shes always come out positive and strong choosing to let the troubles build her rather then break her. I am confidant that with the appropriate funds to gain access to quality treatment and appropriate housing Tina can survive this horrible ordeal that has snuck upon us and threatened her life.
