Greetings and Good Day. Let me start by introducing our team, “Y Bridge 4H Robotics – FRC Team 5476”. We are the only community based, competitive FIRST FRC robotics team in the SW Missouri area. Our 4H club/team is headquartered in Stone County, MO but includes youth from throughout the region.
We are a rookie team entering a competition thru FIRST Robotics, a worldwide robotics program. The FIRST program stands for: “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology”. Thousands of teams throughout the world compete in their regional competitions to qualify for the world championship which is held in St. Louis. The FIRST program teaches students teamwork with emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through a real-world engineering challenge with all the thrill of any major league sporting event. You can read more about FIRST Robotics at: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc.
Our team website is located at: http://ybridgerobotics.webs.com
The University of Missouri Extension 4H program provides our club non-profit status and insurance.
Y Bridge 4H Robotics Team 5476 has secured a grant from NASA which has paid for our entry fee to the March 2015 Kansas City regional competition. The global Kick-off meeting will be Jan 3, and we will travel to Olathe, KS where we will pick-up the rules and regulations and a kit of parts to begin the construction and programming of our robot to meet the requirements and competition standards. In 6 weeks, we will build the robot in a conference room loaned to us.
Our team is not school sponsored and we have no funding except for our grant from NASA which has paid for our entry fee and secured our kit of parts. Of course there will be many other expenses associated with this competition and donations are very important to our success. Though we receive a kit of parts, many times there are additional hardware items that have to be purchased or donated to our team. We have expenses also for team t-shirts, food, lodging and transportation, since we will have to travel to the Kansas City area twice. If we win at our regional there will be additional expense for competing at the world championship in St. Louis.
The local schools do not have any outlet for this type of training and this team is of vital importance to growth in our area, to instill enthusiasm in our local students to learn and gain experience in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics for their post-High School educations. Then to bring back that experience and enthusiasm to other youth in the Ozarks.

We would appreciate any donation to help our small rural based team.  We have great minds at work that need your help.  Thanking you in advance.
