MPSPDC 10 year Anniversary

In the aftermath of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, a group of individuals got together with the intent to honor the  public safety personnel who selflessly served, protected, and gave of themselves, some with their lives. After numerous meetings, planning sessions, requests for funding and equipment, Maine Public Safety Pipe & Drum Corps was founded. We were officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in August, 2005. Since then, we have worked very hard to acheive our mission, which is to honor all of our public safety personnel by providing Scottish music for funerals and memorials without any cost; To represent the men and women of Maine’s public safety by participating in a variety of events; To further Celtic and Scottish traditions in public performances and to teach Highland bagpiping and Scottish style pipe band drumming. It is an honor to do this, but the demand sometimes exceeds our numbers. To mitigate this, we are attempting to grow our organization and provide more training, equipment and members to meet the demand. That's where we need your help. While we generate our own income from certain performances, and small sales of merchandise, the cost to outfit a Corps member can be conservatively estimated at $1,500 before adding either bagpipes or drums. With a current membership of 39, this cost approaches $58,500.  Additionally, we maintain a scholarship fund for deserving students, sponsor families in need over the Holidays, and, most recently, have raised money to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy. Please give what you can to assist us in growing the organization and, if you're local to the area, please consider joining us.
