Lawyer Fees For Dads wrongful death

Donation protected
Hello everyone Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

My name is Emily and I’m the daughter of Jay Wetzel. My father lost his life in a tragic firework accident in 1994.  My father had 4 other children my sister Ashley Wetzel, my brother Zach Wetzel, my half brother James Wetzel and my half sister Raechel Ryan. He was married to my mother who at the time of his death was a stay at home mom and my father was the provider of our home.

On July 4th  1994 me and my family(my brother Zach my sister Ashley and my Mom) all went to the beach to watch our father (who was a pyrotechnician working for the 4th of july show on pompano beach pier) light off the firework show while we sat on the beach. As we sat on the beach no one could have imagined the horror of what happened. The firework my father set off was not properly inspected and went off prematurely. This firework was also a grand finale firework, so it was a much larger firework. That day my father lost his life and that night will forever remain in my memories that we had to witness this and were completely helpless to do anything but watch my mom scream cry and see the panic unfold on the beach.  Here is a link to the a news article.  This still is sometimes too many painful emotions to be able to read...

So after some years of my mother trying to figure at who was at fault for this accident it became known that the manufacturers and distributors of the fireworks did not properly inspect the fireworks and with the help of a lawyer my mom took them to court to sue the companies.  Here is link with more details..

In 2002 We received a Final Judgement that says China National Native Produce & Animal By-Products Import and Export Corporation  and the second company Kwongyuen Hangkee Company Limited Were to Pay the sum of Seven Million Eight hundred Eighty Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars to our Family.  Here is the Final Judgement Document...

Now since this company was in China many efforts were made to get what was owed to us but my mom was never able to get far with it. I knew she was just run dry with all of it on top of raising 3 children on her own (my mother never remarried or even dated!)  working full time, going to school and taking care of everything she had to do she never had the time to do the research and find the right lawyer for this complicated lawsuit.

I have always wanted to do more about it and have never known where to start but  the end of 2014 I just started doing my research trying to find out everything I could about China law and China lawyers in America and finally found a lawyer. His name is Dan Harris with Harris Moure Law Firm. After speaking with him I knew he would be the best attorney to face this complicated(but not impossible) lawsuit. His extensive knowledge of China Law, his connections in China and the fact that even has offices in china as well as America make it a no brainer that I need his help. I sent him the documents I had from the case and he sent me a proposal that he would give me a flat rate fee of $7500 for 25 hours to do the following...

-Figure out whether either of these companies still exist.
-Figure out what happened to these companies if they do not still exist.
-Figure out who owned or owns these companies
-If either company or any successor company is still operating, figure out whether it will be possible to pursue them.
-If neither company nor any successor company is still operating, try to figure out there might be a way to persuade its former owners to pay anything. The odds of this are not good, but it is possible that using public relations and shaming we can get some money out of some of them.

This is what he finished his email saying......

I would propose that we spend 25 hours on the above for a $7,500 upfront flat fee. I believe that after that time has been spent that we will have a very good idea as to whether it will make sense to continue or not. We ordinarily charge our attorneys at between $400 to $600 per hour and our Chinese paralegal at $275 so setting this up as a flat fee should save you a considerable amount of money. I want to do it this way though as we really are faced with a situation where it makes sense for you to find out one way or the other whether you have a shot.

The best news is that I have found out already that one of the companies does still exist (China National Native Produce & Animal By-Products Import and Export Corporation ). I found them on google here is the google profile

So all in all I need to raise $7500 for the lawyer fees to finally know if these people and companies are going to be held accountable for the death of my father. I will finally have an answer after all these years of living my life wondering if there was anything I could ever do to get justice for my loss. Im so close yet so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
