Get Jesi Back in College

Donation protected
10 years ago, I graduated high school with honors.  A solid 3.7 GPA and a 4.0 in my college level AP classes.  Scholarships and pell grants fell from the sky like manna!

2 years later I left college with a 2.4 GPA, crippling anxiety and depression, and no idea what I was going to do with the rest of my life.  My one dream growing up was to graduate college, but I was painfully uprepared for the pressures of that reality.  My GPA fell so rapidly and so low that I was placed on financial aid suspension and I assumed I would never go back to school, at least not until I was wealthy enough to pay for it myself.

Now, I'm 28 years old and work for one of the most well-known non-profits in the country.  I have a professional job in a field that I love and want to continue in for as long as I can.  I currently coordinate camps for adults with disabilities and I adore my career.

My ultimate goal is to become an Occupational Therapist, where I can continue to serve individuals with disabilities and help them on their path to independence.

But I've got to get back into school, first!

I've been working on enrolling at Valencia College for a couple of months now and right as I'm about go to New Student Orientation I find out that I'm on financial aid suspension: meaning no federal grants, no loans, and no tuition payment plan.  Gotta pay everything, up front, in full before I can start the Spring semester on January 12th.

The tricky thing about getting into school after you've shown that you aren't a safe gamble for financial aid programs is:  they won't give you financial aid again until you prove yourself worthy!  Understandable.

I just need to take 3 credit hours to get my GPA up and get removed from financial aid suspension.  That's one class!  Just one!  Probably a math class because let's just get that out of the way as soon as possible, right?

According to Valencia's website cost of attendance for me would be roughly $600 for 3 credit hours.  If I can raise $600 by Friday, I can start classes on Monday!

Realistically, that's so beyond the realm of unlikely, so in the event that a miracle does not happen, I'd just start with the summer session beginning May 11, 2015.

Anyone who helps me get into college is a saint.  I'm so ready to go back to school and I just have a few more hurdles to jump through before I can officially stop calling myself a college dropout!
