Overseas Volunteering in Vietnam

Donation protected
Hi everyone. Happy new year to y'all! Let me introduce myself a bit before I start to explain more on the activity that I will be partaking. I am an international student who is currently studying in a lovely and vibrant city located in the very eastern side of Australia, which is known as Brisbane. I will be undertaking my second year of study this year at the University of Queensland, an amazing university that I am very pround of!

So back to my activity. I am naturally a person that has always like to volunteer and helping people around, especially in the field of community development. I had done quite a number of volunteering activities in assisting my clubs in high school and university, such as fundraising and also helping out those who are blind or deaf.

The reason I am keen to volunteer is because although we are living in a capitalism world, there are many places, many people that still require our help. And as such, people like us in first world countries, who are fortunate enough to have a roof on top of us and not worring about filling out our tummy, should definitely give in our energy to improve their society, so that with all the basic necessity are taken care of can their economy will improve gradually. Isn't it wonderful if peace can be spreaded when different citizens are helping out each other?

This year will be an exciting moment to me, as I will be volunteering abroad for the very first time in Vietnam from 12 Jan - 31 Jan (3 weeks)! 2015 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Although it may look like centuries ago, part of its effects are still deeply ingrained in the society, such as the lost of arms or legs and the use of Agent Orange. Therfore, I decided to give them a helping hand by volunteering myself in childcare. I sincerely believe that children are a nation's greatest asset and without proper nurturing and education in such a tough environment, it is hard to imagine how a country can grow into a better society from its darkest history. These children may be living in an orphanage or have physical/ mental disability but it don't matter anyway, cause my goal is to let these kids know that there are hope no matter what's the situation, and to give them happiness and peace in times of trouble. I am now training myself to become a better teacher from other experienced volunteers. Hopefully my action will transform their life at the end of the volunteering program.

It surely costs a bit to pay for all the registration fee, flight ticket and living costs just to help out these people, and these could mount up to tons of debt. Hence, I seek help from all of you to donate a bit to those kids, let them feel the love and warmth from you far away. Even though I will be using the funds to pay for the flight tickets and living expenses, I sincerely hope that you can see this as a donation, not for me, but for the kids living in poor condition and have no proper education. See this donation as a way to channel all my energy for the benefit of the children there.

Spread the love, and thank you so much for your attention!

From,
Chu Hean.
