The Bath and the Suit - Phase Two

After graduating from Whitecliffe Art College over 20 years ago and being involved in many artistic and creative projects since, I have finally decided to have my first solo exhibition this year. 

The Bath and the Suit

The concept of The Bath and the Suit was born with the purchase of a second hand suit and is the link between all 12 pieces in my collection. It is a study of contrast, reflection, tone, form, movement and technique.  Individuals- some very well-known to the artist, others not as well- are asked to wear ‘the suit’ however they choose and immerse themselves in a bath tub. The subjects are lit and photographed. The images are then edited to accentuate the movement and behaviour of the light on the water and subject. Finally, the images are monochromatically illustrated with Prismacolor pencils on cotton rag fine art paper to produce a stunning photo realistic finished image. The finished images vary between 108cm x 68cm and 50cm x 40cm. I am looking to have the exhibition over a two week period at a city gallery (TBC) in the second half of 2015.

I am at Phase Two of the project having already personally financed and completed 8 of the photoshoots and 4 of the finished illustrations. While I will be applying for grants to cover the gallery hire and framing, I am now in the position where I need more drawing materials and location options, such as;
Prismacolor pencils 70 (approx) @ $2.10
2x rolls of Cotton Rag Fine Art Paper @ $45
White gel pens, sharpeners, erasers $15
MDF drawing boards 6 @$9
Hotel room hire for photo shoot- daily rate at $200
and gofundme fees @ 3%
